While I applaud your intention, I'd rather give to charities of my choice at times of my choosing.
Sounds like a fantastic idea, but alas I prefer to donate to domestic charities.
Could we donate to those who got attacked by anti-piracy "settlement" BS to pay for their court fees? Or something legitimately charitable?

Narushima: If you want to give something to a charity, just do it, don't go and make it a public thing, it's disgraceful when it's got nothing to do with the context.
... charity can be applied to anything though really and Its just people wanting to help out in a slightly different way than a charity fare etc so really dont see how it is disgraceful

The whole point of making it a "public thing" is to encourage people to donate money for a worthy cause who otherwise might not do so.

I jumped out of an airplane and raised £500 ($770) for charity. I would not have been able to afford to donate that amount myself.
