It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

For example, links to download games don't show up in Internet Explorer,, I have Ie9 running on Windows XP on Dad's Laptop and Windows 7 64 bit at home, and download links don't show on either.

Solution: Don't use Internet Explorer. Firefox and Chrome are both free

First of all, I didn't think you could run IE9 on XP.
But I had a similar problem recently with IE9 and GOG.com. The funny thing was that I had no problems with any other site. I discovered that I could fix it by resetting defaults in Internet Options on the Advanced tab at the bottom. If you can't find any other solutions give it a try.
You can only have up to IE8 in Windows XP.

I use Windows 7 and IE9 on various different computers and have never had problems with on GOG. Your problem is probably elsewhere.

Make sure you are not using the 64 bit version of Internet Explorer, only use the 32 bit version, regardless whehter you are using a 64 bit O/S.

I already use Firefox if I want to download anything from Gog.com, and Chrome is crap, yeh.
IE is the bane of website designers everywhere. That's why so many sites don't display properly (probably a lot more than you realise). Getting shot of it is the solution.
IE is not standards compliant and renders things wonkily, you are better off using ANYTHING that is not IE.

If you already use a superior browser like firefox, why does it matter if it displays properly in IE?
Hold your horses there folks. I'm using IE9 right now and everything is fine and it always has been.

Logic would dictate that IE is not the problem. Having said that, trying a different browser is the easiest solution.

Because I hate Firefox, and only use it cos my O2 webmail doesn't work in IE, as well as Gog.com not working.

Do you see?

I'm a web integrator/programmer and I can say that both IE9 and IE10 are very good for html, css and javascript. The only problem of IE compared to Chrome and Firefox is the slow adoption of new versions (IE6 is dead and IE7 pretty much, but there's still IE8 which doesn't support html5 / css3)

Edit: And Internet Explorer 9-10 is the browser on Windows with the best font rendering in my opinion. And Firefox would come after that and Chrome is the worst in this aspect.
