I posted this under one game, and in an effort not to be annoying, I thought I'd ask once here, since it's now affecting a couple different games. I'm new to GOG, and this weekend I picked up a couple games including Descent 1/2 and Alone in the Dark 1/2/3. I run Arch Linux, and so far install the games normally under WINE into my DOSBox directory, and then just run it using my native DOSBox.

After installing Descent and trying to run it, I got an error asking for the CD to be inserted. Huh? I posted asking about this, but ended up finding DX Rebirth instead (which is awesome, but that's besides the point). I've installed a couple other games (Might & Magic series) without problem from GOG and used them in my DOSBox.

This morning, however, after installing Alone in Dark/Jack in the Dark, I have the same issue. I try to run the game, and get told there's no CD and it quits.

Am I missing something obvious here?
You shouldn't be using DOSBox in this case. According to the Wine APP DB, Descent 1 and 2 both function under Wine.

I'm guessing that if you look into the install folder that you'll find a CD image somewhere in there that isn't being mounted when you try to play the game using DOS Box.

But, I don't have the game so I can't confirm.
Over the GOG launcher or directly?

If you look at the GOG installation, you'll find somewhere in there a dosbox configuration file. If you look in the file, you'll most likely find that a file in the install directory is being mounted as a CD-ROM drive. You'll need to do the same.

Something a bit obvious yeah... There'll be mount commands in GOG's DOSBox config file. Copy and paste the Autoexec section into a batch file and then run that in DOSBox to run the game.
First off, thanks everyone for the quick and friendly replies. I knew it was something dumb that I was overlooking since I'm still pretty new to DOSBox. Sure enough, I looked in the game folders at the DOSBox .conf files and saw that the autoexec was mounting an image file.

I've only used DOSBox a few times so far, so I'm still learning. Same thing with Descent, saw in the .conf that I need to run a couple commands differently to start it. Also, funny side note: I alt-tabbed back here to respond afterseeing AITD finally start up, and nearly jumped out of my skin when the loud thunder clapped with the game in the background, haha.

Thanks again and glad I finally decided to check out GOG!
