This is excellent news! I played the first Lords of Shadow on Xbox, but having sold my Xbox a couple months ago I assumed I wouldn't get a chance to try the sequel. Well now I get that chance. Good stuff.

I can barely muster the will to buy a console when I have a gaming PC, let alone portable systems I will never play outside the house.

emulate, then. Those titles are very worth playing. Particularly Ecclesia.

morecowbell24: Lords of Shadow 2 is the game I most want to play that I know I will hate.

I felt Lords of Shadow lacked what makes Castlevania awesome while also lacking what makes the Devil May Cry style game awesome. It was an average game, stretched out too long. But I always hope for Castlevania. At least I know when it fails me I have the Souls games to fall back on, as they are as close as I've seen a game come to be a 3D Castlevania.
I'm not exactly sure what they lacked (maybe Dracula having an actual presence). Maybe I liked it better because I've grown up with the NES games. I thought I'd never see another Castlevania with platforming elements again before I played this one.

This is great! I just hope there's no frame limit or low resolution. Hopefully the game will have a decent save system too.

I wonder if it's just a port or are they going with two development teams on this one?

I should have added that I'm a SOTN fan, that game is fantastic but I enjoy the handhelds too but Order of Ecclesia did have some annoying bosses.

My favorite Castlevania is IV followed by the original, then SotN. I just don't see how this one captures any of what made them great. It's not difficult, it lacks atmosphere, the music isn't memorable, the bosses were pretty lame. I had issues beyond like the ending feeling forced and the gameplay being generic. I don't really want to shit on a game you liked, but to me it just didn't resemble what I think Castlevania 3D should be. The platforming I give you, but if it were more like Castlevanias of old, enemies would be all over the place whilst platforming, (where were the MEDUSA HEADS).

Roman5: Lords of Shadow was Amazing so I expect the sequel to be even better

I don't really care about this PC port, neither do I see a huge need for it to be honest but the more people can play this game, the better I suppose
This pretty much sums it up for me too. Great game, I don't think a lot of people played the last one, which is a shame, hopefully people will find out how good of a job they did (and they get that sweet combat flow built into this one too!).

Someone didn't finish the game...

I did finish the game and I know about the ending.

I just wish that there was more of Dracula (the second may remedy that). Then again, I really liked the twist in the end.

That's OK. I agree that it's not a game for everyone. Strangely, my favorite boss fights (mainly Cornell, the Silver Warrior and the final boss (won't spoil it)) of the series are from this game (except for the Julius fight in Aria of Sorrow).

I have to agree with the atmosphere on the first chapters (and the last), but the chapter on the land of the vampire felt just like Castlevania (although I seem to notice that the original games often had levels set outside the castle).

The music is an hard topic indeed. It doesn't have a catchy melody like the old Castlevania games (although it reprised some of the themes in a few places (Vampire Killer, Beginnings and one particular tune from Super Castlevania IV)), but it was well composed and fit the action on the screen. The music in the final fight had to be my favorite tune of the lot.

We lost medusa heads (always hated those things, so maybe it's a plus), but we got annoying flying imps instead (in caverns only).
