If its on GOG I plan to get it... otherwise I will have to ebay it!

BUT, the issue is that I cannot remember the name, and my search terms are so bleak since I dont remember much that its not going well >->

I do remember that you have a "mothership" that looks like the starcraft research vessel, the whole game is in space... a weapon (or platform) was called the "mass driver"... you collected resources... I think they looked like atom's... I dont remember how many factions but i think it was 2 or more (real helpful i know... how do you think i feel)...

It might be a lost cause... I remember getting this game years ago at a big lots on the "cheapassgames" rack for like $10 or maybe it was $5...

ANYWAY... if anyone can piece that hopeless memory of mine together or might have an idea... I will love you forever! (no-homo)

YESSSSSSSSSS, we have a winner.

The game you are referring to is Homeworld, one of the greatest games of all time. Its not on GoG yet but I and some others on here have requested the series to make its way to GoG.

You can however find the games on ebay for affordable prices, and the games work just fine on my Windows 7 computer. The first one is playable unpatched but I'd recommend you patch up all of the games before you play them (there's an intro bug that crashes the game if you don't have Homeworld Cataclysm patched).

After patching, prepare to be amazed by one of the greatest games to ever grace a PC.
poooey... i already have homeworld... thats not it... its 2d... you move your "mothership" through the map which is basically formed by asteroid fields...

its very C&C ish... in the gameplay type/style...
I thought he meant Homeworld as well, but I'm not entirely sure the resources worked like he describes. You're not thinking of Dark Colony or some other StarCraft look-a-like are you?
it kinda felt like starcraft, but it wasnt... you could build buildings and other units...

i just really remember the mothership, the top of the dome opened in like 3 or 4 pieces and little drones flew out to collect the resources...

and it isnt dark colony... its entirely in space (or since its being confused with homeworld... ON space :D )

EDIT:

FOUND IT... apparently its abandonware!??!?!

Star Command Deluxe (was the Windows version of Star Command: Revolution) 1998!

https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Star_Command:_Revolution (mainly for revolution, but since all Deluxe is, is a windows version basically)

Glad you finally found the game man. What did you think of Homeworld btw?

whelp you can basically call this solved/closed... I do thank you guys for forcing me to explain its difference to homeworld and starcraft, thats what led to my discovery...

and now I cry... I found 2 on ebay... but 1 is really revolution (which is DOS), and the other LOOKS like the Deluxe version but I cannot tell...

other then that finding an ISO seems impossible... Q_Q
Just use DOSbox. It'll play the DOS version just fine.

Funny.... I did a google image search for "Star Command Deluxe" and clicked on the first image (was wondering what the game looked like) and it was a link to a download of deluxe. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
the few I grabbed weren't ISO's...

im a stickler for 1:1 ISO copys :D
