RowdyRodimus: Also until a few years ago it was legal (based on an old law from the 1800's never taken off the book) to use a stick to hit your wife as long as the stick was less than the thickness of her wrist.
That's an urban legend, it's spousal abuse has been illegal for quite some time in the US. Often times things like that aren't formally taken off the books even though they are superseded with more recent legislation.

And the original formulation was supposedly the size of the thumb. Something the size of a wrist would be large enough to cause serious damage rather than the intended effect.

Which is where the expression 'rule of thumb' comes from.

Hey, and nondeplumage, what's wrong with William Shatner? He's full of awesome!
I don't see how we could survive up here without night vision. I mean, every year, we get six months of night, and the vampire hordes fly north once again for the winter. It's not just Alaska that suffers through this yearly onslaught of nosferatu and night! Our iglooit (plural of Igloo), just aren't built to withstand that much punishment, and our lookouts require night vision so that they can warn us of impending vampire hunting groups. Once detected, our native shamans can establish a battle line, and ride their french-trained warbears into battle.

P.S. - Did I miss any stereotypes?

It's probably a law in Quebec. The only reason it wouldn't be a law in Quebec was if there was a blanket ban on all goggle-related items in that shi- state... Province... Entirely separate batshit country that has nothing to do with poor, innocent Canada at all.
The people in Quebec have been quite friendly to this English-speaking Canadian, every time I travel there. Just don't mention the Plains of Abraham!! I did that once, and barely got out alive. Thank goodness they can re-attach certain "limbs" surgically.

Plains of Abraham? Ah, I did wonder if that was my mistake. Especially considering the big banner over the road that read: "Entering Quebec. Please keep all limbs safely inside the vehicle at all times. Brake for nobody. Do not mention the Plains of Abraham".

It even has it's own legal system! (it's sad because it's true)

It's mostly the legal system of theirs I was taking the piss out of. But from what I've heard it's not just the law that's odd.

Not even France is that stubbornly French.

You were talking about laws, which is related but not the same as the legal system which puts those laws into place. Granted, it's only different when it comes to civil cases, but still.
