Just a quick question, i am new here so i apologise if this is written somewhere clearly.
Can we suggest or request games to be "updated" to work on win 7 / 8 etc?

I have loved certain games to the point of obsession but cannot play them anymore because of the OS i run. The only way i can find to play the games i like is to download a version of them that isn't the original or the sound files are corrupt and play on a DOS emulator which is really annoying because you cant save your game.

The games i want desperately are Discworld 1 & 2, couldn't care less about Discworld Noir... it was awful.

Let me know :P

Yes. Be aware though that legal and licensing reasons may prevent a game from being sold on GOG, but quite a few people here should be able to help you get a physical copy running again. Don't be afraid to post and ask, but as in any conversation, be polite and wait for an answer.

Welcome to GOG, enjoy your stay.

Edit: Just saw that you are asking specifically about the Discworld games. Those are from Psygnosis and their rights should currently reside with Sony, so it's not that likely that they'll come here soon. One could probably ask Sir Terry if he knows anything more about the rights, but I don't think running the first 2 discworlds should be that big of a problem. Let me look.

Edit 2: A quick google search brings up this thread from 2009, which says that newer versions of should be able to run the games. Copy the files mentioned [url=http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Datafiles#Discworld]here from the CD/Floppies to your hard drive, and ScummVM should be able to recognize the game and run it. Haven't really used ScummVM before though, so not sure if any more steps are needed, but there is a wiki on the ScummVM subjects, and quite a few members with much more knowledge on the engine than myself.

Awesome, :D

I have the first game on floppy but i don't have a floppy drive anymore.
I hadn't really thought about the licensing but i figured it wouldn't matter as i'm fairly sure the game development company doesn't exist anymore, i could be wrong though.

Any thoughts would be welcomed of course :) And don't worry, i'm always polite.

EDIT: Oh, i didnt realise they were with Sony :(

You could try looking at Abandonia.com if you can't find it elsewhere.

You could try a copy shop for that. Most of them still have older computers with floppy drives and can copy your files to USB or CD.

You really should head over to the wishlist and vote for all the games you like. Due to licensing issues not all will ever make it here, but the more votes the more chance.......
