I rejoice, it's been a long, long time since a PC blockbuster pushed the graphical envelope. We did have the gorgeous and demanding Witcher 2 this year, but not since metro 2033 did we PC gamers enjoy a great looking DX11 game . We spend money on our machines to enjoy visuals and sound unmatched on any other entertainment/gaming platform. Yes, it does mean upgrade time for me which leads to research and price comparisons. Tasks that can become mundane, that can be time consuming.

But like the hobbyist mechanic that makes old cars better for kicks, I'll look forward to make my machine into a better, faster PC. I am not alone in saying it's one of the joys of PC gaming.

However, the specs have not finished. For ultra settings, SLI 580GTX is recommended by the devs. Buuuut...... I find this nvidia marketing hyperbole then anything else. Like metro, I'll wait for people to test the game on their rigs and find out the real specs for ultra.

The game is shaping up to be another crysis in the GFX department,so in true meme fashion, can your rig run B3?

Mine barely runs it, if at all.

Ahh so it's crysis2 all over again with sub pixel tessalation on a flat piece of wood and invisible oceans just so it runs faster on NV?

Not only that, but I bet it'll run much better on nivida hardware then ATI. In fact the specs point to that. A 560 is a good card but a 6950 is higher priced and specced.

Which is disappointing since I will upgrade my ATI card.

They can't likely recommend a next-generation nVidia, can they? They might very well be afraid of the shitstorm they'll face both from nVidia users and nVidia themselves if they only recommended AMD.

My ol 4850 is the only thing I don't meet in the recommended.
Funny, I can run BF2 maxed out on my Radeon HD4290 integrated graphics (except for antialiasing).

I'm sure the HD6950 is for maxing out all details in DX11 mode at high resolution (eg 1920x1200). It does look like a quad core is mandatory though due to the physics implementation...

It happened recently with Metro 2033 listing a GTX 480 quite a few months before it released. There was a lot of shock on the steam forums over this. A few other games listed ati 6000 series cards in their specs as well, though this was days before the line up was released.

It happens though it isn't a regular occurrence, thankfully.

And for those who want to run it on Ultra, have fun getting that loan from the bank.
If those specs are correct it looks like I will be getting another gtx 580 after all. I was a little put off when I tested two gtx 580's on metro2033 due to microstutter hopefully this won't be a problem in battlefield.
My processor is the only thing that is below spec (it's a dual core, not a quad core), depending on how you look at it. My graphics card fits the description, if not the named models (I have a 1GB GTX 460).
I have a gtx 460 se and a quad core so I guess I can probably play it on medium.

Crazy as it may sound though, I don't care much about this game

Not crazy at all. What the hell is battlefield? Multiplayer wargame?
Pretty rough requirements. I guess nowadays it finally starts to pay of to own even quite old quad core.
