Fenixp: Well, it's got no fog of war, map exploration is still in obviously (big part of the game is exploration,) the system is pretty straightforward, all the game does have is isometric graphics.
I like isometric - Fallout 1 and 2 sport one of my favourite RPG engines.
The Infinity engine is just not my cup of tea for some reason...
Also in general I find fantasy settings unappealing (as opposed to say post-apocalyptic a la Fallout and steampunk a la Arcanum).
As for this game, the story looks very interesting but the gameplay seemed really slow and uninteresting. I'm not sure I'd like to trawl through so many dungeons to get at the story.
I might try a demo. I think it was mentioned in one of the earlier posts that a demo in English is available?
darthspudius: I can understand being put off by DnD, it use to drive me bonkers trying to work it out.
Yeah, you'd figure that some game would provide you with a concise summary of the game mechanics considering how immensely popular DnD used to be in gaming at one point.
At one point I actually found some random .pdf on core DnD mechanics. Right, so "d" means dice. Ok, that makes sense now, I always thought it stood for "damage." I mean, RNG is basically dice rolling... But why would you describe my weapon's damage as "roll an eight-sided dice once" rather than having a simple 1-8 dmg (no need to even mention the swing). I guess it does become more relevant once you get more complex gear, but to a DnD ignoramus it's simply baffling at first.
And then you've got all that choice between blunt and spear and sharp or whatever? Fuck knows what I should go for? You tell me?
