They added a Beneath A Steel Sky easter egg as well - could this be a clue?

Didn't BASS get an enhansed iPhone version? It could be that getting ported to other formats.

Where what?
If you mean the comic, that was a long time ago.

I think they have basically said that is coming to PC when they get around to it. I read it on a couple game blogs.

That's possible.
And it was in the police station - there's a flyer that says something liked: wanted: Robert Overmann.

She's talking about Steam, not GOG, for the record.

Well, yeah, but that's second best in terms of platforms here.

Well, dotemu is DRM-free, so I disagree.

Dotemu gives you the exe file and that's it. You can store it for the rest of your life. Saying Steam is the better platform is like saying hedgehogs make for nice pillows.
I don't even know if I would recommend anyone buy this anyway. The new content is boring and the graphics somehow are worse than the original... less detail, less animation. I finally battled my way through the new opening and got to Stobbart at the cafe and compared it directly to ScummVM... it looks worse. The red advertisement is less detailed and the whole scene looks smoother rather than more detailed. They even cut a lot of lines, you can't click on the street-light or the umbrella to hear dialogue. Throw in the annoying hint system always being on and you've got a sub-par experience.
The new mini-game puzzles are okay, but overall this is a very poor re-release.
It's on Steam now for people who loooooove DRM.
I played about one third through the DC now and I agree with all the comments here: The game has a LOT of little inconsistencies and niggles that make it a much less well-rounded package than the original. That's not to say that the additions are terrible, some of them are really nice, but it just does not fit well together.

The worst offender are the new Character Portraits by Dave Gibbons. While they are beautiful on their own, they do not fit at all to the style of the whole rest of the game. They stick out like a sore thumb,

The Interface is also all over the place, the inventory actually obscures some item closeups, the really cool original way phone conversations were handled (George writes all numbers on a used envelope along with pointless doodlings) is completely gone, the stupid flashing hotspots have been mentioned already, in short: it's just a fucking mess compared to the simple but elegant interface of the original.

Lots of little dialogues and cutscenes have been deleted (I noticed the scene where George hides in the wardrobe in the Hotel Ubu, and since all Death scenes have been removed, the scene when he tries to leave the hotel with the manuscript is missing as well)

Please, GOG team (and Revolution Software), let us choose between the Director's cut and the Original!

Edit: Oops, wrong thread, but it fits here as well...

Adding the ScummVM files for the original version to the extras would be awesome.

They may not have rights to the original (different distribution rights may exist between the two versions). I know they'd need to generate a whole separate binary for it even if they did have it.
