michaelleung: Because a news organization with international offices and David Frost couldn't possibly be any less truthful than, say, Fox News.

Runehamster: ...and thousands of starry-eyed young comic book fans hitch-hike to the gulf in hopes of finally gaining superpowers from the only batch of toxic sludge they'll ever have access to...
All these are awesome in different ways.

michaelleung: I loved how everyone wondered a few months back "Are those dispersants going to harm us?" and BP was like, nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong! You can trust your friendly neighborhood multinational corporation!
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

Something like this will be all over the media if there's any validity to it. Given that the US military deliberately targeted Al Jazeera in the Iraq invasion I wouldn't be so inclined to trust their opinion to be unbiased.
Given BP was previously called "The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company" and they are buying a lot of oil from arab states - why would Al Jazeera want to make this up?

It was all very public.

They asked the British government for an assassination (at the time I think they were a public company) then when results weren't forthcoming moved on to the US.

The CIA complied and launched Operation Ajax. The end result was BP getting what they wanted even if Mohammad Mosaddegh lived to tell the tale.

Although not for long. Iran's new puppet leader was quickly overthrown and replaced with the wonderful Islamic regime we all know and love today.

So yes, when you hear about Iranians chanting 'death to America' now you'll know why.
