I kinda missed the news that ArmA: Cold War Assault aka Operation Flashpoint was released as an "update" to version 1.99. You can install the update even if you have only the original OFP.

I just tried it with the 10-year old CD serial key from my Russian retail copy, typed it at the "patch" installation screen and, damn, it worked. Didn't even need to have Flashpoint installed. What's more, it provided me with Resistance expansion, which I never bothered to buy. The only thing missing in the Red Hammer campaign that was included on Russian disks.
So.. if you have your OFP CD somewhere and want a single file digital copy (UK manual included), go for it. Doesn't seem to require any activation or other voodoo, besides serial check in the installer.
