See if you can find a copy of Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal (GOG needs to convince THQ and Funatics to release it here, by the way). It's very much Pokémon, except the battles are handled like an FPS.

Blizzard DOTA may be free to play (it could come as a bonus to Starcraft 2's Starter Edition). But those have bought the actual game would receive more heroes and stuff for the mod.
