For those of you who remember Gemini Rue, the indie adventure game developed by Joshua Nuernberger and published by Wadjeteye Games, you may be pleased to know that Wadjeteye is releasing their fourth adventure game, Blackwell Deception. Like Gemini Rue, you can preorder the limited edition DVD here:

For those that have played the Blackwell series:
How is the story compared to Gemini Rue, in terms of quality.
I haven't played it either, but adventure game review sites seem to be lukewarm to it, though they generally don't dislike it.

They're pretty average games, judging by the demos. Not bad, not great. I plan to get the bundle of the first 3 eventually.

Adventure games are all pretty mediocre lately and I can't remember the last one I finished.
Reviews are out. So far they've been quite positive. The offer for the limited ed DVD has also been extended till tomorrow.
Oh, the last one I finished was Gemini Rue. Duh!

Anyway, I'll get some Blackwell someday, but not now. The demos were just sooooo average in my opinion. My adventure game backlog is so large it's truly embarrassing, so buying more average ones is the last thing on my mind.
Played two of the series and need to finish the second one. I also finished the Gemini Rue demo (full game is in the pipe), which is btw not from Dave Gilbert, he's only the publisher. Storys and atmosphere are completely different.

So far I really enjoyed both series, I would call them as fine adventures with good voice acting and a nice story. They are not very hard to play and so very enjoyable for newbies to the genre.

At last, my advise is to play the demos. They are really short and give you a good idea if you like them or not. Btw, as fas as I know (and see from the screenshots) will go on with the story of the third one, so maybe you should play this first.

Edit: Ah, forgot to use the reply function for selbons posting.

And if you want to purchase the music of the trailer :

I just gave Blackwell Convergence a shot, about 2 hours in. Voice acting is a bit spiffy, but otherwise I'm enjoying it so far. It's not the most compelling adventure game I've played, but it's intriguing enough to keep me going. ATM I'd probably give it a 4/5.

I hear Deception is an improvement over Convergence, so I can't wait to try it.
Can't really afford Deception right now, but I've been playing the first three games in the series recently (got the Blackwell Bundle during Christmas) and I have to say, I'm a fan. Got hooked from the very beginning, the story sucks You right in (well, sucks -me- in at least), I got attached to the characters and all that. I'd recommend starting with the first part, the games tie in quite nicely (although it's not necessary I suppose).

Got this in Dave's latest email:
So, it's official. Blackwell Deception has beaten all records, becoming our most profitable game to date!

Rock Paper Shotgun has called it our "best adventure yet" and Dealswpn describes it as being "the most fun you'll have all year."

While the digital version of the game will be around forever, today is your LAST CHANCE to purchase the DVD edition. To recap, here is what the DVD package includes:

- Blackwell Deception (obviously)
- All three previous Blackwell games - Blackwell Legacy, Blackwell Unbound, and Blackwell Convergence
- The Blackwell Deception soundtrack, composed by Thomas Regin
- Three Blackwell cartoon shorts. Two of these were placed on YouTube back in 2009. One of them was never uploaded.
- An indiegamer.com audio interview with Rebecca Whittaker, voice of Rosa Blackwell

Again, this DVD will not be available after midnight, so be sure to nab it before it goes poof.

-Dave
You know you want it ;)
I caved and bought it a couple of days ago. :P
Dave Gilbert's a really nice guy, and gave me a coupon for the downloads of the first two games so I can start playing Legacy while I wait for my DVD.

So did I, and do I ever :P
I'm afraid groceries & bills are gonna take precedence though, stupid life.

Gemini Rue is supposedly getting a retail release around these parts though (in some sort of indie-collection DVD or something), so I'm quietly hoping the same is going to happen with Blackwell eventually.

Yep he's something else. Coincidentally, it was only about a month ago that I messaged him to ask whether he would be releasing a DVD version of the Blackwell games. I'm really glad he took that suggestion seriously, because from the excitement surrounding the Deception, it's obvious he's achieved quite the sale.

I would tell you that eating is for chumps, but you might just end up taking that advice too seriously. I should know. My inner eater always gets squashed by my inner compulsive buyer.
