Hey Guys

I recently swapped my old brick Sony Ericsson from 2004 or 2005 for a Blackberry Bold 9700.

The person who used to use it was on a similar plan to mine, but when I got it, I couldn't access the net via 3G, only by Wi Fi (it said it couldn't connect and I had to contact my data provider)

I can live without the 3G net, since my plan has a small data allowance, but I couldn't set up my email on the phone (even with WiFi), and it said "couldn't connect to the server". There was no previous email set up on the BB.

Then I updated the software, and that made things a bit worse. Now, I can't find the Blackberry Appworld app, even though the desktop software says it's installed, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it to no avail. Additionally, some apps, such as the podcast one, say I need an appropriate plan to access them, when i'm connected to wifi, when others such as Shazam work fine.

Any ideas on how I can get mail to work, get appworld back, or use these apps? I tried a hard reset (taking sim out, turning on, replacing sim), and requesting a host route table (after which nothing has happened)

The current software is Blackberry 6.0

I think you need BIS to use 3G or email:

You should ask your mobile operator about it but I am afraid you will have to pay for it.
