I find it to be a really good rainy day game, when I'm bored or when I only have time for a short session I start it up and play. I'll play 5 to 30 mins here and there then not play it for a while, rinse and repeat. I love the soundtrack and just picked up it and the Wrath of Lamb DLC that I haven't had a chance to play yet. Some of the songs play really well in Audiosurf.

i haven't seen any of the framerate issues people complain about yet. Maybe I'm not playing long or far enough to see them. Given that this is a flash based game, Is the issue ram based?

Definitely not a memory issue. The problem is that since the game is Flash-based, it can't make use of the graphics card, so all the pixel-pushing is done on the CPU.

On my old rig, which had 1 GB of RAM, and a dual-core Intel Pentium D CPU, the game could barely run, even on the lowest resolution / quality settings. But if I set the exectuable for Isaac to have CPU priority above all other apps, performance improved slightly, which'd indicate the bottleneck was the CPU.

With my new rig, though, which has an i5-2500 CPU, I can run it on any setting and performance'll be fine.

Did I say "CPU" enough times yet? CPU.

Ah, I see, my Phenom X4 965 with 8gb of ram slightly overclocked tot 3.6ghz seems to have no trouble running it, Had I bought this game before my birthday earlier this month while I was still running my athlon 64 x2 4200+ running at 2.1ghz with 3gb of ram as my main machine I would of been running into the issue left and right I assume.

Maybe I should install it on my older one just to see how bad the issue, since I still have it running as my backup rig.

Yeh, the game is much more difficult with that expansion, but I managed to beat it few times. It all depends on what items you find on your way.

EC-: Do you guys use the wiki? I use it during a lot of my playthroughs by pausing and alt-tabbing so I can reference items and the like. It'll definitely make you a better player.
No I do not. I was afraid, that it will be too spoilerific and too helpful :)

Austrobogulator: I <3 The Binding of Isaac; anyway, the solution to any TBoI problem is to just keep trying. Also, the wiki can be pretty helpful too :o
Yeah, I use it all the time. Mostly because the game itself doesn't give you any explanation how your new passive items work...

EC-: I and most other veterans have determined that, yes, the add-on does indeed make things more difficult. Here's the kicker, though: before you learn the nuances, the Binding of Isaac will be difficult no matter what version you play
Ironically, the game gets easier the longer you play, mostly because you unlock more and more powerful items on your way ;)

It's a flash game. So people having problem with flash games in general, will have a problem with BoI. Mostly because of slow CPU

Understood, I was just wondering if there was a huge memory leak like that horrible flash game "Castleville" my mother plays that Zynga refuses to fix. By the way, what a pos company they are, no web game should ever be using 900mb of ram after an hour.

Anyway, we noticed a noticeable improvement in the amount of time before she has to open task manager and kill the firefox flash plugin and restart the game.after I upgraded her ram from 2gb to 4gb. The symptoms sounded similar from what I read about here and in the steam forum, so I was curious.
