It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I'm trying the 2/3 file for Syberia. It's 2GB. My download gets to around 400 or 500 MB before Firefox crashes.

Other than 'go get another browser', does anybody have suggestions or an idea why this might be happening?

I remember there used to be a GOG downloader -- is this dead now?

I downloaded Syberia and Syberia 2 using the latest version of Firefox without any troubles. Sometimes Firefox will get stupid on me though, and the problem is almost always fixed with a computer restart.
The downloader is indeed dead for the moment. Apparently they're working on a replacement.

Are you using any firefox extensions? Those ones that establish multiple connections might not work right since gog downloads are from a secure server that creates a temporary connection (thats why the resuming download managers don't work). Try downloading in safe mode with no extensions.

I know you don't want to hear the browser suggestion but trying the download in chrome or ie should help identify if its your connection or your browser
What version of FF? I'm using 3.6.10 and have no trouble getting any of the large files from GOG.
I've never heard of this problem before. Since downloading in Firefox is causing problems for you I suggest getting a good download manager (a) so that you can avoid triggering the crash and (b) so that Firefox crashes don't affect your download.

I strongly recommend installing Free Download Manager and getting the FlashGot extension to integrate the download manager into Firefox.

Actually, you can resume by feeding in a new source URL. Any good download manager will let you replace the source URL and/or add mirror URLs (either will achieve the desired result). It will discard any incomplete chunks of the download before resuming, so you won't end up with a corrupted file no matter how many times the connection is broken.

This. I've never had any problems using this combination for downloading from GOG (or anywhere else for that matter). Being able to grab part of a huge file and come back later (using the aforementioned source URL feature) is a great benefit as well.
Thanks for all the replies. I tried a reboot, but to no avail. I'm using the latest Firefox version (Check for updates finds none), and I'm on windows 7.

Curiously, it always crashes at 480 MB.

I guess I'll try a downloader, but it's a shame it doesn't work this way.
