My first reply to him wasn't really to him. It was more just a general explanation of why I feel the way I do since my first post didn't contain any. It was obvious he was trying to bait me into a flame war, but that doesn't interest me. I've said all I have to say about it. I honestly never believed for a second that he likes IW more than the original. I'm not saying I don't believe anyone can, as some people do, but I never believed for a second that he did.

Let's go with "Antroll" maybe? And my argument is that a significant majority of newcomers will rank the games 321, not 132. I am willing to wager on a double blind study if anyone wants to set one up.

for gamers who grew up with the console-centric games of the '00s, I can see why people would rate HR highest.

but what kind of arguments would you use to rate IW over DX?
IW was an unfortunate offspring of trying to develop a sequel to a geat game onto a terribly inferior hardware (the original Xbox), as such, it suffered terribly from this cut-down: tiny levels and ridiculous UI weigh the game down heavily. It did contain some interesting innovations, but they were few and far in between compared to its flaws.
