I purchased my first game here and downloaded it with the downloader. It appears, however, that the file is corrupt. The obvious thing to do is redownload, but before I do, I want to be sure of some things that are not clear.

The file downloaded as planetscape_torment_part0.gogDownload, and was 0.98 gigs in size. It is not an .exe file, which the "support" section says it should be, and double-clicking it does not execute it -- instead, I get the "unknown program" pop up. It is not a 7-zip file, because 7-zip will not extract it. Clearly, this is not right.

Suggestion: the page for the game should give the exact name of the download file and its size, so one can know if there is an error after the download.

Sounds like something screwed up with the Downloader. The only thing to do is re-download.
For clarification, I should expect the downloaded file to be an .exe file?

My planescape torment file is called setup_planescape_torment.exe and is 1,034,344 KB according to Windows. You got a corrupted file I think sorry.

Utilizing the Downloader should result in an .exe file. For games with multiple parts (Planescape is not one), the files will be merged instead of being separated into .bin files.
Thanks for the quick responses. I've only been registered a day here, and already I'm impressed with the courtesy and helpfulness of the denizens.

And the second d/l was not corrupt. Excellent.

Not according to my observations so far.

Maybe at one time, but not in the last few months (I didn't have a multi-part game before then).
Definitely not. The queued game will always appear as a 'single' download on the downloader's GUI but if the game is over 2GB the downloader will donwload multiple files, .exe and .bin's, just the same.
Whoops. Sorry for spreading FUD.

There is a very rough estimate on the download size on the main product page. But it's better than nothing. Problems are, at least for me, very rare (50+ downloads and no problems at all).

And have fun with Torment, I did also sign up because of it!
Just a bit of info...whenever any good downloader downloads, it downloads it as a "part" file. This way you can pause, or stop the download, and resume later. After all the data is downloaded, the part file is converted to whatever type of file you are downloading. (.exe in this case)
