I was going to watch that video, but it would cut into my gaming...

Egotomb: "Addicted" is one of those words like "expert" that has always been overused in conjunction with computers. Spending too much time doing something is not necessarily an addiction.
If you spend too long on computers for work, you become an "expert".

If you spend too long on computers for games, you become "addicted".

To sum up, games are for kids, games make kids aggressive, and look what the kids of yesteryear who played games like monopoly did to the world economy!

I was more bored than anything watching that video. I thought I'd be rolling around laughing but no, just dull. Shame, got all ready to be wound up by it and everything!
To be fair, a lot of kids are moving over to TV\videogames instead of playing outside or sports clubs etc. Nanny state\fearmongering didn't help, admittedly.

Delixe: The conclusion was great. We all need to go out and get shitfaced instead of playing games. I approve.

michaelleung: Shitfaced.. WHILE playing games. There.
Shitfaced while doing anything... playing games, partying, working, screwing, all of it is improved by alcohol:)

That must be the evil game companies fault and not, oh I don't know, their parents fault or their own bloody fault. Do we blame James Cameron for the ridiculous phenomenon of people going to see Avatar a gazillion times? Or do we denounce FIFA when grown men bunk off work for 'important' World Cup matches?

No, of course not. Unfortunately games fall in to that general area of 'GEEK' that still seems to get people all worked up in this day and age.

Amarinthe: The teenager they followed for this show isn't a good example for a case of gaming addiction.
He had cancer and because of that his life wasn't exactly "normal" anyway.
Being ill and stuck in the house he wasn't exactly going to have the chance to do a lot of other things anyway so he played games.
Would they prefer that he just watched the TV the entire time??
Wow, Their reporting sounds insulting to those who are il and stuck at home.

I don't recall blaming the game companies. Where did I say that?

I didn't post in agreement with the BBC, merely offered a different view to your own.
