Hey guys,

Had no idea this site existed! I almost wish I'd never found it because I already have at least 10 games on my to-buy list.

Question is, how does coop work in BG2 with two players? Do you each create a character and play with just those two characters? Is there a party where you each play half the characters? Or do you each play a character while the comp controls the others?

I just spent nearly an hour trying to find an answer with no luck. Is this good for 2 players?

Appreciate any info!
I'm pretty sure it works by having each player control half the characters. I believe there's an option to configure which players control which characters during the multiplayer game setup.
I could be wrong, though.

It's been awhile but thats what I remember.
I believe you and your bud creates two players. But I'm not sure. Will test it out if I get the chance.

Awesome! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Going to make my first purchase now.

Thank you both!

Congrats on understanding that "had" = past tense. Someone recommend this site on Reddit.

OK, never mind, that just makes it even funnier.
Ok, this is the way it works, since apparently these guys don't know for sure. I had to get a networking program called Hamachi to play it across countries, so i am very familiar with it.

1 player hosts the game. That player gets to choose which out of the 6 slots you have for characters that each player gets to control. This means that you can play with 6 players and not just 1,2, or 3. although i believe the game experience is best when you don't have so many personalities, bladders, and lungs involved. with 6 players on this game at once the problem becomes that someone is always peeing, smoking, or being an ass throughout the game.

To get back on topic though, the system allows you to have 2 players controlling 3 each or even 2 players with 1 controlling 1 character and the other controlling the other 5. there are no limitations when it comes to baldur's gate 2. another reason that it is STILL one of the more innovative games of this time. I mean how many other 6 player co-op RPG's have you found?

The thing to remember when making characters for such a game is that you really do need at least 1 mage, 1 rogue, and 1 warrior. beyond that you can mix and match. hope this helps.

If anyone needs help getting baldur's gate 2 to network through the TCP/IP option in their game, feel free to message me. it's not hard, it just takes knowing how to do it. seriously could be done in less than 15 minutes if players knew what to do. my email is tobias2nd@hotmail.com. no spam or you're instantly blocked.
