I saw on here that GOG was letting people that bought a retail version of The Witcher were being allowed to type in their key or whatever and get a back up copy on GOG. Is this going to happen with any other game?
I have the retail version of Far Cry and it is a pain in the back side to get working. I have to install the crap on another computer because it won't install on my Windows 7 machine and then transfer ALL the files to my desktop computer, download a patch, and THEN install it. It doesn't even work right after all that crap either. I've had it for two years and I have yet to play it.

Not likely. The Witcher games are made by GOG's sister-company, so they actually own it. Not likely for any other games...

Yeah, I knew that. I was kind of hoping GOG would help me out though. I would love to play it but I just can't bring myself to pull out my laptop and spend an hour trying to get it installed. Especially since after all that work, it still doesn't run well enough to play.
I would actually pay to get a back up copy. If they charged me three bucks I would already have it. They could actually make money like that, I think.

You could wait for a sale. Or maybe post in the wishing thread, maybe someone will gift it to you. If you have some spare Steam/GOG/GG codes you don't need, maybe you could try to trade it.

People could exploit this by buying cheap used retail copies of the game, getting the cd-keys and then selling the box to someone cheap, while still retaining the game on gog.

I suppose that's true. People could do the same thing with the GOG version though because it's DRM free. Hopefully it will go on sale soon.
