doady: I only started to get into adventure games in the past year, thanks to the excellent game, Snatcher.

In the past 9 months, I have played two PC adventure games: Syberia and Broken Sword. It took me 5 months to beat Syberia, and 4 months to beat Broken Sword, lol. Sometimes I get stuck on a particular puzzle and it can take weeks or months to figure out.

So, yeah, adventure games require a lot of patience...
THATS how you do it, you spend months on the game! shoot, I only spend a couple hours on any given game period, and after about ten minutes, i give up.
The only Adventure games that i've played that I DIDN'T need a walkthrough for was all the Sam and Max episodes...........and that shocked the fsck out of me

doccarnby: I remember failing at Scratches with a guide and I'm crushed at my incompetence with adventure games.

Roslavets: Scratches has several illogical puzzles, so don't fret about it. The game calls for some MacGuyver moves that leave you *scratching* your head.
I had a walkthrough open. It wasn't illogical puzzles, as I said, I think I hit a bug where I couldn't look at the place I needed. Still, kinda killed my enthusiasm when I needed a walkthrough foor the simplest of puzzles.
i tried to finish Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis or whatever its called, and i managed to get pretty far in it on my own. i ended up needing a walkthough for one part, and after i started using it i didn't stop. i just tried to finsih the game with it, but at one point, the walkthrough stopped making sense.

bottom line, a bad walkthrough means your gunna have to figure out yourself, and that may prove to take too much time and patience for my blood.
here's something you might like to check out if you like adventure games:

BrakoVonDoom: Putting a rock through a window doesn't make you stupid, it makes you a stand up citizen :D

Nah I'm the same as you though man, probably why I spend most of my posts on hear crying because I don't know how to load games.

But there's not wrong with being crap at adventure games and needing to use a guide. First rule of video gaming is enjoy it and don't get stressed. So don't worry about your brain man, some of these devs stay up for days on end thinking how they can make something so bizzare and then laugh as they see the posts piling up on forums.
I'm glad someone else has the same philosophy as me, lol.

F4LL0UT: Gabriel Knight 3, eh? That's the only thing I know about the game.
And frankly I can imagine that you didn't ever play it either but simply quoted one of the most infamous riddles of all time. ^^
avatar
spindown: Oh, I did play GK3. But I quoted that puzzle for being the most ridiculously illogical thing ever in a video game, of course.
Sorry, but the magic bridle that turns the snake into a horse wins.
For the most part the ones that are too hard are ones that have puzzles with illogical or just plain stupid solutions.

Runaway wasn't really hard but the one puzzle to get an item out of a feeding troff was just stupid as you had to drop a heavy item into it from the second floor of a building to have the item get knocked out so you wouldn't get your hands dirty, ya if you need an item quick and there are people about that want to kill you dirty hands would be far on your list of concerns.

Yeah.

The first rule of gaming used to be.. YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT BEING A GAMER. But its ok to talk about it now as its seen as preferred form of media entertainment.

BrakoVonDoom: What is it your finding tough ? AI battles or getting past certain puzzles?

Point & click games used to be a nightmare for me but I still loved them. Put tissue with beach ball and add to block of cheese 'Ok I've added those and I've created a fully working steam engine'...WTF!

ashout: I find the puzzles to be challenging. of course, i have a mental disorder that makes solving puzzles difficult to say the least. but even before i got sick, i still had a hard time with thinking outside the box, and logically putting together things to create solutions. I just don't SEE the solutions jumping out at me, I see a rock, and a window, but i never think THROW THE ROCK THROUGH THE WINDOW! I think "put rock in grass" which never does anything in an adventure game.
Ashout, LOL, I don't have a mental disorder (although some people on here might think differently :) and I'm as bad as you when it comes to figuring out what to do with things in adventure games. Where the developer obviously thought it was logical, I think "Huh?" :)

for some reason, i still play them! now however, i wont spend money on them, instead i download the free ones at adventure game studio website. they're just as good, and there are walkthroughs for them, and they are free, so i can give up on them without worrying about them. I'll play them as long as i can, and get as far as i can, and then move on to something else. honestly i just like the graphics!
