It'll be the standard edition if that's the one you purchased. Owners of the standard version were not upgraded to the GOTY edition.

why would they keep the non-GOTY version on their download servers to screw over those who didn't purchase the GOTY version, rather than upgrading their game for free?

First, I expect the choice as to whether to upgrade existing owners to newer versions lies with the publisher. Second, older versions of games (and games no longer sold at all) are kept on Steam's content servers so owners of said game can still download them whenever they want.

The fact that the game is set to not download updates, and will not allow me to set it so such seems to suggest that it will be the non-GOTY version

You should be able to set all games on Steam to auto-update. If you can't, then you're experiencing one of the bugs with the auto-update system.

You'd not get an automatic upgrade to the GOTY version unless they felt like it, its certainly not a sure thing, you'd end up with whatever version you bought simply because the standard & GOTY would be listed as seperate products.

Wasn't the DLC just extra challenge maps anyway?

Sadly, that doesn't matter. It's the version that you (and I for that matter) purchased. Very few publishers have offered free upgrades to newer versions on Steam.

As for the DLC, if I remember correctly, isn't sold over GFWL? If you're lucky, you *might* be able to buy it on there, it will also work with the Steam version.

Well, the only other way to get the DLC is to buy the GOTY edition. In which case, just wait as it's bound to be discounted heavily in at least one sale throughout the next 12 months.

If you want the DLC sold over Steam, I expect you'll need to talk to the publisher and Microsoft (to see if they'll finally lift their "exclusivity" on the DLC).

I'm a bit surprised that anybody would get the GOTY edition that way. When I bought mine for PS3 it came with 3d glasses. Kind of gimmicky, but it was kind of cool at various points in the game.

Let me know too, I'm in the same boat here.

Don't blame Steam on this one. Blame Eidos/Warner Bros for that. Even though they're not really obligated to do free upgrades, since there's no other way of getting that GOTY content, and that they don't even sell the regular version anymore, they really should have upgraded the game just to be nice.
