Especially when a game is on sale I feel almost OBLIGATED to buy. :)

KingofGnG: Nope. I have a 100 light years-long list full of shit-to-buy. And I usually don't buy anything, 'cause I have no money for that...
This is pretty much me too.. There are games that are five or six years old that are still on my to buy list, but I can't afford them (not when I have to time to play them and dozens of barely played games waiting to be completed).

That being said, if a game I really want goes on sale for a great price (say if they start selling Divinity: Original Sin for under $10 or something) I'd probably have to get it if finances allowed, because it would be wasting money not too... <_< >_>
When i have money..most likely yes

Niggles: When i have money.
Technicality
I don't have that problem at all.....................................anymore.

After months of gleefully buying more games than I could ever hope to play because of sales, my game purchases have almost completely ceased. I have a total of 80 from GOG, but there is very little left in their catalog that I want. Also, is it just me, or does anyone else think the quality of their sales has decreased considerably? I am glad I got a lot of games when I did because it seems like the sales they have now are just recycling the same old games over and over again with the only real difference being the name of the sale. I guess this is a good thing, though. Now I can actually play some of the games!
I guess I sort of do that, at least with digital games. Like others have mentioned, I mainly pick up games in bulk during sales. However, I'm a big physical game collector, including games I buy purely for nostalgic value and have no intention of actually playing through completely. So given all of that, I have roughly an 18% completion rate for my game collection!

If you take out games you don't really "beat", like various sports games, some puzzle games, etc, that percentage might go up to like 20% or so. Either way, it's still pretty low! But oh well, I enjoy the collecting aspect of things, so to me, that's a kinda metagame. I do need to stop buying random PS1, N64 and Saturn games though...
You're doing a lot better than me. My played rate vs owned is probably under 1%, and yes I am a compulsive buyer here..243 Games and counting.
I think compulsiveness shows in how many games you buy per week rather than the total quantity you own.
So I'd have to answer yes even though my collection is still shy of 150.
I'm in denial about this whole thing being compulsive but I shamelessly admit to procrastination. Having stayed away from games for more than 10 years, I have a lot of catching up to do. My intent on returning was to just retro-game a carefully selected handful of classics I missed back in the day and from the missing decade but it's going beyond that now with replays and new indie games etc.

Ah well, I'm sure we're all in more or less the same boat so nobody judges here :)

I don't really know if I'm a compulsive buyer, maybe the GoG community can help me know.

As of today, I have 104 games in my gog library.

Of my 104 games, 15 games were freebies and of those 15, I have finished 4 of them and 1 games main campaign has been finished but the expansion areas I just started. I game I also don't care about.

17 of those were impluse buys. 7 I haven't even downloaded yet, 3 i've fiddled with but haven't started, 4 I am part way though (1 of which is nearing completion) and 3 I have actually finished.

Of the remaining 72 games:

7 games I won't be playing until I get a good joystick.
2 games have technical problems I haven't bothered to sort out yet.
1 game I won't be finishing because it was tedious as hell
3 games I am part way through
46 games I have completed
The remaining 13 games are backlogged (some not even downloaded yet).

The TL:DR version:

I have a total of 104 games

53 are completed
8 are at various stages of completion
2 games I won't be bothering with
41 have been backlogged

So, on a scale of 1-10, how compulsive am I? (1 = not compulsive, 10 = compulsive to a fault)
The Witcher 3 was the only one so far.
Usually I wait and check a few things, like the DRM. An example of this would be GTA V, I'll get it when I see no SecuROM and no GFWL.
I try to wait for more than one platform before I buy anything. I like to support Linux as much as I can.
Well, I would say yes to some extent. Back then I bought lots of steam games I never played, now since I quit steam (and gmg since its policy) I don't do that anymore, unless when some games on gog are being taken off.

For physical copies, since they cost tons more it usually takes me quite a while to decide, therefore wouldn't say it's an act of compulsive buying. Although, I might spend unexpected funds on for cheap physical music/drama cds and other goods.
A closer count reveals:

About one third of all purchases were compulsive, meaning games I did not intend to buy but couldn't resist due to discount. The percentage of compulsive purchases increases over time as the collection is already saturated with planned purchases and can only continue to grow by adding compulsive purchases and the occasional classic release.
In the first couple weeks on GOG, my collection was 0% compulsive.
