stonebro: In a manner of speaking, but you can't really blame wealth directly. It's more accurate to blame the modern lifestyle - which most of us are forced into due to work these days. Today, most people's reality go something like; (...)
I was too general. In well developed countries, its services that is the main motor of a economy. People sitting behind the desks, etc etc. It all makes people more fat. In developing countries, the production is on the first place, i think.

JudasIscariot: By the way, the few times I went to McDonald's here I never saw fat people as in "Oh my God, it's coming right for us!" fat. Not even chubby or slightly fat. Just trim and athletic Varsavians.
That's true. But you know, in Poland at McDonald's meals are much smaller than in U.S. so a real fatty would stay hungry after eating Big Mac meal. Also, the prices. You have to pay at least 20 PLN for a big meal in McD's , but an average person would be still hungry.

It's more convinient to order a XL pizza for the same price with free delivery.

Starmaker: Yes, there are, but not a majority (however, not having been abroad, I do not have a point of comparison). For instance, in my office, two of twenty people are fat, and one of those two has a serious medical condition.

Junk food is too damn expensive for poor people, and the middle class can afford better ($25/day to not go hungry on junk food vs $35/day for three decent and filling restaurant meals). So fast food is for people who actually need it fast.

Take-out food is not nearly as popular. Take-out in McDonalds means you're in such a hurry that you can't afford to sit while you eat. Take-out in a decent restaurant means you ordered the smallest portion but can't possibly eat it whole, so they pack the leftovers for you. Pizza and sushi delivery is a luxury treat for lower-class parties. The comedic situation where a depressed unemployed person sits in their bedroom surrounded with empty pizza boxes is plain impossible in Russia.

Most notably, Russian social occasions are said to be centered on alcohol, while western ones are said to be centered on food. A glance at life expectancy statistics shows which is the lesser evil.
Well everywhere there are fat and thin people as there were since the dawn of mankind.Sadly all those commercials and slimming products and those dreadful fatal surgeries make a lot of money and people are so concerned about their weight.

Well i am from cyprus a small greek mediterrenean island and there are a lot of fat people(myself included as i am almost 200k) but really fat (300kilos+ ) no so many, actually very few.

As for Russians ,as we do have a lot of tourists from Russia ,through most are thin there are some large guys but to be honest in all my years i only met one truly fat russian ,i met him a year ago and he was around 50 and 300kg...

Are people like this very rare in Russia or are there a lot of older people so big but they stay mostly home ?

As for
My 2 cents: I heard that Polish people living in the countryside (at least in a certain region) tend to be fat, simply because they cram so much food down their kids' throats, so they'll look "healthy". Note: "unhealthy" in this paradigm means "slim, famished", rather than "obese".

Also - neither stress nor sedentary lifestyle lead directly to obesity. I'm as high-strung as they get, I sit on my ass most of the time, yet I'm 6" and weigh about 130lbs. My secret ? I eat very little ;P.

Its true, you really don't need that much food nowadays. In the old farming days, you had to eat alot in order to do hard work from dawn till dusk on a farm. These days most people spend most of their time watching TV or sitting in front of the computer and yet some people still eat as if they are working on a farm all day, no wonder they get fat.

I'm disappointed in this version of the video.
One of my favourite lines from the original where he equated the Gamecube disk to a chocolate-chip cookie has been edited out.

keeveek: Well, in Eastern Europe consumption is far from what's happening on West. For example, in Poland , most people get 30-50% less calories than regular German folk.

As far as I know, in well developed countries people are getting more and more fat. It's because of the wealth.

It's not a mystery, that people living in Easter Europe are statistically poorer than Westerners, so we consume less meat, less high-processed food etc etc.
Here it is not true. Wealthier people have access to healthier foods, are better educated, and make better choices. Poor people here actually are the fattest and the poorest states have the highest obesity rates. McDonalds is poor food, it's addictive and its loaded with chemicals that will slowly kill you if you eat it all the time.

I know a lot of bodybuilders and powerlifters are healthy but fall into the obese column and thats not cool to call them obese, but lets get real...95%+ of obese people aren't bodybuilders or powerlifters.

This recession in the west isn't making people skinnier, no..it is making them fatter and stressed out. A soft kill if you will. They will die faster. Cancer rates doubled in the past ten years, diabetes rates doubled.

Fuck doctors who say moderate your diet, eat 20 times a day and make sure you get enough fiber to shit 8 times a day. No, I recommend the blazeking fast diet done by noted historical figures like jesus mohammed buddha and gandhi..you get slim fast by fasting. Just stop eating for a month and the addictions and oral fixation will be gone.

This is pretty much true

300 years ago a Fat person used to represent a person who is Wealthy

Now though it represents people who are not very intelligent or are poor - not saying of course that there aren't fat people who are rich or intelligent however this seems to be the norm nowadays and of course I didnt mean any offence to any fat people, just an observation of mine...
Now though it represents people who are not very intelligent or are poor
Which one of them is Gabe Newell? :P

Ps. I was talking about country's wealth in general, not particular people's. When country is rich, people don't need to work phisycally that much, because they work mostly in services, sitting on their asses.

In poor countries people need to work.

You can't say "poor people are fat" because it would mean world hunger is a myth.
People in high developed countries are eating more than the whole Africa consumes.

It's because the COUNTRY is rich, not the people.

Also, obesity is linked somehow to the culture. For example, japanese folks live in a rich country but still they are mostly skinny, because of the culture of eating vegetables with rice and not so much red meat, etc etc.

PPS. And what do you mean by poor? If you have a computer, you are not poor by world's standard. I know poverty means something else in each country.

Well when i compare the Czeck with the UK today then im pretty sure who is better off today. The EU and the Euro must go. Also the multiculti crap must go as well, it will come anyway with the civil wars. All multicultural countries collapsed in the past 3000 years no matter what.

the method which is used to calculate whether someone is overweight, obese does not apply to people who have a lot of physical activity during the day.

so bodybuilders are one group, miners, sportsmen are another. a friend of mine from high school was doing windsurfing professionally. he was 20kg too 'fat' for his height... yet it was all muscle.
The Russian will be also free one day just as the Europeans will be. They are now suffering the same tyranny as we do.....

Most still believe this myth of the rich Americans. I mean did they ever drive through the US ? The slums are even reaching in front of the white house. Only the imports keeps them from total collapse....

I recommend any American and well as well European to buy food for longer survival, water, gold, silver for exchange. Do not believe the "government" to save the day because this will not happen. This debt crisis will either way end in a hyperinflation or a massive currency cut. Of course all will call me crazy etc. but unfortunatly it's all for real, remember my words.
