i notice you guys did a hell of a job easily making the games work on vista im wondering if games like arcanum for instance did you guys include patches which improved the game and such or is it like buying the game the first day it came out?
They're pre-patched to the most recent official version. For a lot of RPGs there are further fanmade bugfixes and tweaks and you'd have to install these yourself (but that's a good thing, not everyone wants to use them).

GOG is pretty impeccable about fully patching games. You will almost always find the most current officially patched game, wrapped, if needed, in the appropriate dosbox.

What they WON'T do, is include community-built patches. I don't know how much of that is aesthetics , and how much is business and legal.

So, for example, PLANESCAPE... you get the game running and fully patched. What you don't get are things like "The Ultimate Fixpack". (but, they are hella accessible and easy to install).

GOG selects the ideal patch version for each game (usually the latest but it may be a slightly older one that works with the most popular mods for said game, such as TOEE). The installer installs the patched version for you, no need for you to do anything.

You're probably thinking about this stuff: http://terra-arcanum.com/downloads/

The Unofficial Patch is supposed to fix a lot of issues (balance and bugs). I actually played a bunch pretty vanilla back in the day and it was still fun for me, YMMV.

Also, visit the Arcanum forums here for more info, other folks may have your same questions and it helps to have them in the correct forum: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura/#1292890498
