Sorry I ask it here but i dislike the steam forum.
I recently bought a new lcd screen and had a lot of problems with games running,
after installing the drivers and buying a new cable dvi to hdmi and all of the games work.
Expect risen if I start the game I get a black screen with a white screen with a fatal error, I have looked up all forums but it seems noone had a solution for this problem and i really want to play this game and ironically it was because of this game i bought a new screen since it was too dark to play on my previous one. Anyone had the same problem with the game and found out the solution?
My system is:
amd athlon II x4 640 processor 3.0
amd radeon hd 6700 series
6 gig of ram
and using win 7 64 bit

The game was running fine previously so i dont know why it doent work.
I tried caching the files
removed reinstalled
lowering resolution windows
tried but couldnt find the ini file so couldnt remove it.
What did the error message say?
From another forum.

'it sounds like your problem actually may be an issue with the game attempting to pump out a resolution and refresh-rate incompatible with your current monitor.'

Sounds like exactly the sort of error you'd get from the situation mrtophat101 suggested. It'd be a good plan to read through that thread. In fact, you could skip straight to this post for a solution. But have a look at what your desktop screen resolution is normally and then use that instead of the 1024 and 768 used in purple's example.

Thanks but the problem is that tread is about when you install the game from cd but mine is on steam so the files arent easely found.

Just change the C:\Program Files\Deep Silver\Rise parts to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Risen [Program Files (x86) on 64 bit Windows].

The basic folder structure is the exact same besides the install location.
Oh well plenty of other games to play just uninstalled and play another game.
