Do you know similar games (2D only !) ?
I'm not playing it right now, but I tend to pick it up from time to time. It is indeed a very entertaining game.
As for similar games, you could check out Medieval: Total War (only the first edition, Medieval 2 is in 3D). Sure, it's TBS when on the strategy screen and is quite a bit different from KoH, but it's another medieval strategy game where you conquer the map province by province. The "diplomacy" (or better, lack of thereof) is very disappointing in it, though.
*Raises my cold dead skeleton hand.*
Love the game.
My favorite empire to play as,is the byzantine empire or depending on your view of history.
The eastern roman empire!
Off the top of my head, can't think of any game out there like it.
Sending spies to watch your enemy.Slowly waiting for the right time, when you can do the most damage.Be it steal their gold, turn their armies all in to rebels or have your spy be made the king and hand over the crown to you!
One of my favorite games of all time..Would love to see it on GOG! :)
If you like Knights of Honor you may like Crusader Kings...that's what I played a lot after I got into KoH...I believe I read somewhere that Reign: Conflict of Nations is similar, though I don't know personally.
A little while ago, Cambrey, I believe his name is here on GOG, gave this site where you can get KoH music from:

Brings back the good times. :)

Mine as well, though I always start as Epir and remake the empire from the smallest hardest little despotate around. ;-)

My favorite faction is probably the Teutonic Order. Somewhat tough to begin with, but when you develop the right buildings, they have an absolutely badass army, with Teutonic Knights, Heavy Crossbowmen and Feudal Knights being their faction-specific units.
(Some may say they are imbalancedly strong, but I don't really care... I just like seeing my knights raze the enemy! :-))

I thought total war medieval the first one was 3D. Can anyone vertify this.

Also, is knights of honor a hard game to play. I am not too good at these kind of games and alot of games too hard for me lol.

Taking control of one of the few high tier towns at the start.
And that bonus gold, for rebuilding the empire, sure does help.

Well, the battles are in older-style 3D, but IIRC, you can view it from an almost-isometric point of view if you pan the camera high enough, and also, you can just let the AI do the battles for you.
You can choose between 3 difficulty levels in Knights of Honor, and your chosen faction also determines how hard the game is. Tip: don't choose a very small or huge kingdom/empire - the first is difficult to start with, and with the latter it's hard to watch all of your borders and manage lots of provinces at the same time.
