Narwhal: AGEOD games are TBS, not "real-times" though.
The original post/question didn't ask for real-time only wargames, so turn-based are as good an answer as anything else (though Close Combat is real time, so it may be infered that real-time is preferred).

Narwhal: I am planning to make a Let's Play with their latest, Revolution Under Siege. On GoG. Starting this WE.
Revolution Under Siege indeed uses the AGE engine, but it's not an AGEOD game - it was developed by a third-party developer, not AGEOD itself. As such, it's an AGE game, but not quite an AGEOD game.

Still, it seems to be a great game on its own right, and it's based on a great engine. I'm looking forward to your AAR.

I made it simple.

Well, I planned to do it this WE, but I had a problem with Microsoft Office, so could not edit image, on my new computer. And now it has strated, I don't want to catch back half the campaign in AAR, all the more since I have been completely smashed so far (I had only played RUS's Finnish War campaign, and the Ice March, so the Polish-Soviet campaign was a bit too tough for me.
Next PBEM will be either more RUS or a full RoP campaign, though :)
Close Combat a Bridge too far was the most realistic strategy game I've ever played.

Troops would actually break formation and run away (off the battlefield) if you sent them on suicide missions that result in heavy casualties, combat losses that result in ranking officers being killed, or intense combat situations (without even losing a man they would occassionlly run away for fear of the enemy overpowering them and being out-gunned, i.e. tanks coming). Sometimes you could rally your troops into staying and fighting, but not often. So realistic, that's my favorite part.

GOG should definitely add this game. Dubyuh Approved.

Agreed, but i know someone who goes ape at the mention of morale as a function in games

earthclaw: Just in general, (but keeping fingers crossed that there will be more on G.O.G.)

Crassmaster: Unfortunately, there isn't much on GOG for wargames besides the first Combat Mission (which is still a nice wargame) and the Panzer General and Panzer Elite titles.

Looking elsewhere, you might want to check out Matrix Games. Lots of war games there, including the remakes of most of the Close Combat series. There's also Battlefront (Combat Mission & Strategic Command series), HP Sims, John Tiller Software and a lot of others. One word of warning...wargaming tends to be expensive. :)

If you're looking for something lighter, I highly recommend Battlefield Academy from Matrix, and the CC remakes, Field of Glory and Panzer Command : Kharkov are likely up your alley as well.
I ended up buying Achtung Panzer Kharkov 1943 (Battlefield Sim), On sale now at Gamers gate), and Steel Fury- Kharkov 1942C ( Tank Sim). Both are great
games games , the later bieng my favorite...heard alot of good things about Steal Beasts all except the price.<ouch> . All i need now for my tank fix is WW@ Battle Tanks -T34 vs tiger. :D

P.S. World of Tanks Mmo is fun if anyone wants to try it out.
World of Tanks is fun except when there are more than 3 arties in a match, except if you are on a couple maps dubbed "camping maps" (the one with the "circle marsh in the middle",and except a few other things

D'OH! I completely forgot about Achtung Panzer when I was listing off games...very good choice. I found the UI a bit off, but the game is pretty good...and they're working on a Western release of the Operation Star expansion they've released for it in Russia. :)
As a side note, the Close Combat series is still continued at Matrixgames as well, I know someone mentioned "remakes" but not sure if it was mentioned where to find them. Some are also on sale for the Matrix holiday sale as well.
If by remakes he means mods, there are plenty of CLose Combat sites out there that have them. Try using a search engine.
The only authorized remakes are the Matrix versions, which are greatly expanded editions of CC 4 (The Bulge) ,THe Longest Day, which is a completely redone version of CC V incorporating all of Day instead of just Utah Beach, and CC Last Stand Arnhem which is completly redone version of "A Bridge Too Far". All have been updated, a great many bugs that never got quashed have been quashed, and include a great many new scenarios and campaigns as well as the original ones. The Russian front is the only Matrix game that is just a update, and does not include massive amounts of new stuff. Rumor has it that CC Stalingrad is in the works at Matrix, though.
