Damuna: Thank you for that - that was excellent. This makes me more hopeful about the Avengers movie, now that I've seen the actor for Thor in action.
No problem, looks pretty good. I only know Hemsworth as Kirks dad at the start of the Star Trek reboot, made my wife cry though. Looks the part though.
I've been looking forward to a Green Lantern movie since I was about 5 years old. I'm just not sure I was looking forward to this Green Lantern movie. My big problem with it? The costume. It looks like it was digitally painted on (probably was) Ryan Reynolds' naked body. Granted, because of that it looks more like a comic costume than a movie costume, but to me, that just makes it look completely out of place. If there is anything we have learned from previously successful superhero movies, it's that the costume must be realistic, even if that means altering the traditional form it takes (like Batman going all "rubber suit" instead of spandex tights). Give it the visual aesthetics of the comic book costume, but make it look like it belongs in the real world.

Oh and for those talking "Hal Jordon is too serious, Ryan Reynolds can't do serious" you don't know what you are talking about. First of all, Hal Jordan became serious after he was given a ring and trained as a Green Lantern. Prior to that he was your stereotypical irresponsible party boy hot shot test pilot. It was only after he had his "great power/great responsibility" moment that he changed, which I would expect to happen sometime near the climax of this movie (it is an origin movie, after all). As for Ryan Reynolds serious acting ability, go watch the Amityville Horror (2005), The Nines, Buried, or Fireflies in the Garden, then come back and tell me he can't do serious.

Excellent post and very good points. I keep seeing the trailer getting ripped apart by fans but honestly I think the trailer could of been cut better, The suit which I guess is supposed to look energy based was made cgi since they wanted it too look alien and stand apart from other films, but I do agree it looks out of place.

Got no doubts about Ryan Reynolds being awesome as he usually is and I would add Chaos theory and Smoking Aces (especially the last 20 mins) to the list of this guy can act.

Also on related note have you seen the Green Lantern: First Flight movie?.

They could have achieved that "otherworldly look" with a real costume and added digital effects, instead of an entirely digital costume. I'm honestly not sure what looks more out of place, the costume itself or Ryan Reynolds very real face next to that very fake costume.

Ooh, good additions, I forgot about those, though I wouldn't necessarily call Smoking Aces a "dramatic" role for him, but it is definitely not comedy.

What self-respecting Green Lantern fan hasn't? I'd also recommend David Boreanaz's portrayal of Hal/GL in "Justice League: The New Frontier". It's more of a re-telling of the Silver Age origins of the character than First Flight was (it completely ignores the elements of Emerald Dawn that have been added to the origin), but it is an excellent representation of the character. Plus the movie has NPH as Barry Allen/The Flash, which is a fantastic piece of casting.
