AndrewC: It's more fun when joining a corp because people help each other and the corp (especially if player owned) sets the missions and everything. Also, they help you "level up" faster because most corps provide you with money and ships and implants.

With the new expansions the agent quests (think PvE) got better and more diverse, but in my opinion, to experience the full game you need to be near security 0 sectors (or in) and in a good player owned corp.
Will the alien invasion addon coming in 2011 add more solo style play to the game(as in missions to fight the aliens that anyone can do) or will it be more of the same you think?

I haven't played EVE in a while (around 2 months or so) so I can't really say much about that, sorry. In general expansions focused mostly on balance, new ships and skills and game mechanics rather than PvE.

Well, they say a new alien race will be joining into the game and invasing, so i'm hoping it's some PVE type stuff. Here's hoping at any rate.
It's been at least a year since I last played. Not too keen on the 15 dollars a month thing. Especially since I don't have a steady income atm.

Runehamster: Drat, I apparently meant Anarchy Online. Totally different. Derp.

GameRager: For what? The game you thought I meant or something else?
I thought we were talking about the same game for some reason. I tried Anarchy Online, never tried Eve. Which is a good thing, because I'm pretty darn sure that I can run Anarchy Online, so I'm going to go look it up ;P

GameRager: I also heard the game isn't too gorgiving after a few levels/etc if you don't join a company/faction. Is this true? Or can I solo for the most part if I choose?

Egotomb: Not sure how it compares price wise to WoW but this game is £180($284) PA in UK, that's crazy money for a game subscription to my mind.

Shame 'cus I'm a huge sci-fi fan too.

PS: sorry it's a bit off-topic just needed to get that off my chest :)

AndrewC: You're referring to the E-ON complete collection, which is the official EVE online magazine, not the game ;)

If you're comparing game prices EVE is cheaper than getting WoW Complete (WoW, TBC, WoTLK and Cataclysm).

60 days EVE costs around $34.99 (you can get it cheaper or pay with in-game ISK) where 60 days WoW costs around $30
No I'm talking about the game silly :P

Here's the pricing...

Lol...ok then.

Egotomb: ...
Sorry, I missed the PA.

Either way, it's the same price as WoW (14.99 per month) and has a smaller initial investment (to get the full WoW you need to pay £4 for WoW, £4 for BC, £8 for WoTLK and £25 for Cataclysm, and that's with the current discounted prices).
You know, I would have bought EVE if I had not seen this a few months ago. Essentially the same thing. I'm sorry. =(

That's not released yet, and you can't disembark your ship like you seem to be able to in EVE Online. Earth and Beyond was even better and had more PVE stuff and soloing, but they shut down due to a bad decision by their derp CEO.

Not really as you're missing the large player base, community and system zone. That and the fact that the game isn't released yet :)

Other than that, it looks like a pretty cute clone.

I know. I am just waiting to see what it's like. EVE never really got my attention.

It is cute, isn't it? And I'm well aware it isn't out yet.
