I'm not sure if "clonsole" is the portmanteau of choice by the kids these days, but what better time to start a new meme than now? Anyway, I'm talking about the consoles that have two (or more) slots in them, one for an NES cartridge, and one for an SNES cartridge (one has a third for Genesis cartridges), and are sold commercially in non-Chinese/Korean markets, and even printed with properly proofread packaging and manuals. A couple are even handheld, like the "30-in-one Classic Genesis handheld" or the one that plays NES carts.

Anyway, I've been looking (without much success) for a modern clone of the Sega Mega-CD, or even the JVC X'Eye. Has anyone seen such a thing?

I have never seen one. Plenty of Genesis/Megadrive clones but none that run MegaCD games. You might want to try looking for a Sega Multi-Mega on eBay. They were very unpopular machines and most ended up just being used as portable CD players so you might get one cheap. Collectors however will make you pay through the nose for one though because of it's unpopularity, they also won't work with a 32X.

TBH your best option is just a second hand Genesis and Sega CD on eBay, even if a clone exists I can guarantee the quality will be shitty as most of them are.

It's a crying shame Sega didn't make the Dreamcast backwards-compatible with the Saturn and Mega-CD. Or even just the Saturn with the Mega-CD. I have a Dreamcast and a Saturn.

There were all kinds of systems in Japan but nothing ever saw the light of day in the west. There was even a Pioneer manufactured laserdisc players that accepted modules that allowed it to play Megadrive, Mega CD and Turbografix-16 games. You can blame Sega America for every bad decision made in the 90's and most of them by one man. Bernie Stolar.
Haven't seen a modern one but I do see the CDX show up every now and then on ebay or pawn shops. Perhaps look for one of those?

Actually, I have an old Laserdisc arcade machine in my carpark. It's got all the Don Bluth games in it.

@Sielle
I've seen CDX' on ebay, too, but they're all with non-functioning lasers or something, and I've not the faintest how to replace such things. The only reason I was able to get a CD32 I bought from some guy in Australia to work on my modern HDTV was because there are enough Amiga enthusiast shops around that sell chips and boards and other parts to get older Amiga hardware to work on modern monitors and TVs. The Sega community isn't that die-hard, sadly. I mean, sure, everyone remixes the hell out of the Green Hill Zone theme, but that's about the extent of it.

Did you know that the Sega CD console and games had no copy proctection? Thats right. You can copy any Sega CD game onto CDR and it will boot and play just like the original in the Sega CD console. I was amazed when I learned this. Enjoy.

That's kinda because the home user didn't have readily available CD burning technology. It wasn't necessary.
