SimonG: You really should change ISP. I don't know how the situation is down there, but (even without) games internet traffic is going to increase in the coming years. Unlimited bandwith is really something you should go for, because once the contract is done your golden for the future.
I've been considering it, but it would cost me $200 a month for a comparable uncapped connection. We have many awesome ISPs here but are stuck with a pretty horrible telecoms monopoly that fleeces both us and our ISPs.

gameon: how do you clear downloads from the list? I had the steam dev source or something like that try to download for some odd reason. I dont want it, and i cant quit the download, all i can do is pause it.
Also under your Settings menu there should be an option rather you want Beta tests or not. There are two available currently Skyrim and Steam Client Beta. It sounds like you have Beta set to on and it automatically installed the the Beta Client.

Can you curb the price by sacrificing speed? I did it when I was living at the university dorm. My speed was basically capped on what the servers could provide, but that doesn't mean anything if you can't download more than 10 gigs.... So I went for the "private option" severly reduced speed (but still broadband) but unlimited this time.
I have Killing Floor installed, no updates.

There is a chance that your game files are corrupted and steam downloads them again. But I don't think steam does that kind of things automatically.

Well, I can get 1Mbps for $50 a month, but that's not worth it. I prefer to stay over 4Mbps. As long as I disable Steam updates I don't even hit my cap (and I can always top up if I do).
Steam has been going weird on me updating games that dont need it and it even came up with a message i was out of hard drive space when there was 200 gig free on it.

iainmet: Agree completely, nearly every day it is just shy on a 200mb update. I havn't uninstalled it yet though, coming close! There was something else that was constantly being updated, cant remember what it is for the life of me so in the end I got sick of the daily updates and uninstalled it.
TF2 maybe? I know I uninstalled that one because of updates.

Glad I uninstalled Dungeon Defenders as well now. Maybe when I finally get FIOS...

Yeah, that was it. The updates were always pretty big on that one also, sometimes being updated daily, got so annoyed uninstalled it.
