I do not get this. This is reallly starting to piss me off!!!!

So I buy a new game. Freespace 2. I try to download it. Says my security settings are preventing it. So.. i disable my security. In a nutshell, everything that I have tried... failed. I turned off disabled and ect the folllowing: antimaleware, antivirus, defender firewall explorer security ALL of them, added GOG to secure trusted sites and turned of security to it, the whole damn package. Basicly i turned off ALL my security leaving the pc open to all assholes that like getting into private computers. NOTHING WORKED!
So I figured ok, I will try to download the GOG downloader, that should solve that problem. Get to the site, and clicked the appropriate link.

In the next moment i was soo pissed, its a wonder my keyboard still works. The same damn security message pops up. It downloaded it however, and instantly deleted it out from under me at the same instant saying, its unknown and harmful.

Great....
just great
Can you download anything else from anywhere else? Go to, say, www.fileshack.com or www.cnet.com, pick some random file, and see if you can download it. That'll at least tell you if it's your PC fighting with GOG, or your PC fighting with everything.
Well, so far, I can download small things like music from GOG, but it blocks my every attempt at downloading the actual game
i dont know what to do anymore i have spent hours trying to solve this issue. no EXE will download. no matter what i do to disable my security of all kinds on my pc

Back to the first question, then: try something big from another source.

For what it's worth, browser download of a 513 MB GOG installer is working for me.
There isnt anything big that i have access to download or desire to elsewhere but thanks though. HA. 4 megs. even that pops up like this "Security Alert" Your security settings are preventing this file from downloading. And im like "What security settings? I set everything to either off, or enable. even the download option. my computer is practicaly having a heart attack saying, "theres no security anymore!" lol yeah..... right, its still doing a kickass job blocking downloads with no security enabled :P
ah HA GOT IT. I had to litteraly create a brand new account on my computer in order to bybass the problem entirely. Finaly solved that problem. Thanks for the help though. :)
