Dizzard: I really liked the combat system in Atlantica Online. The quests were really boring though. :/

Thunderstone: Agreed, but it helps when you are in an active guild that at least talks now and then. Out of curiosity, do you still play the game?
No I don't, haven't for quite a while now.

It's one of the more interesting mmos I've played though thanks to the combat.

I don't blame you in the least, I'm starting to get kind of bored with it as well. I only stick around because I have a few friends in game.
I used to play WoW, but haven't played in months. Waiting for an invite for Path of Exile to try. Been in a game funk til recently with all the summer sales.

I haven't found an MMO that peaks my interest. Everything out there seems rehashed and recycled.
Im playing DC Universe, currently. This one surprised me a lot. Its kind of a "beat em up" MMORPG. There are combos, lots of skills, and many, many ways to make your char. There are many combat styles.

The quests are really fun and there is a lot of content (raids, PvP, group based missions, PvP arenas with fixed characters from DC). Oh, and you can solo your way through the game.

Oh, its F2P, by the way. But guess what? This one isnt actually pay to win. Im already level 20 (max is 30) and didnt have to spend anything. Once i reach end game i will buy a few DLCs that come with more missions to support this model.

Yeah, DCUO is one of the better F2P MMOs. My only real problem with it is that after a while I found the combat to lose its novelty and I ended up basically just spamming the same one or two moves over and over.
Not at the moment no. I suppose I will be when Guild Wars 2 is finally released.
I'm not a very active player of anything, but I do play Everquest II occasionally, and still drop buy City of Heroes on occasion.
I started playing Secret World and loving it. Great Atmosphere and setting but the game will not be everyones cup of tea as some of the missions(quests) are difficult and research heavy.

If you like mature rpgs not set in a fantasy world then i would give this a try.
I've tried like 10 free at mmohut during the summer as I like try them out (and see if the genre has changed anything) and watched probably over 20-30 LPs but I never found anything remotely interesting.

However, I did try some Ultima Online and I guess it was the closest thing to a MMO I enjoy. I also played some Tibia back in the day, it had a really interesting feeling. Even grinding was fun as it was always challenging.

I've noticed most MMOs are ridiculously easy in the first few levels then at a certain threshhold you meet one enemy that basically kills you unless you use all your available abilities.
I recently decided to have a look at Eve Online again after a five year absence, and within a few hours I'd resubscribed and pledged a huge chunk of my life to this terrible time sink. Stay way from it!
One reason I'm really loving Guild Wars 2 is that they put a lot of effort into their lore and how the world is structured. Even the enemies in the game have something to learn about them.

I don't understand how developers expect me to care about the world they've created if they didn't even care about the world they've created. It happens so often though when I play MMOs, the world doesn't excite me or make me think about things.

I played WoW for a while, but I can't afford the subscription costs any more.
I also play LOTRO, on one of the EU servers (I can't remember which one at the moment, it's been a couple of months since I last logged in).

I haven't encountered any GOG players in either one. If anyone here does play LOTRO, it would be nice to add them, since one of the reasons I stopped playing was that I didn't have any friends in the game.

That being said, I don't always have a lot of time to play MMOs, so I like to play more casually. Single-player games take up the most of my time.
I'm also interested in the role-playing servers, but haven't made that plunge yet.

Guild Wars 2 interests me, and I know at least one friend who plans to buy it, so I might join him.

I bought it during some 75% steam sale but I haven't tried it yet because I don't want to waste the free month the came with it unless I've time and after watching some LPs..it seems ridiculously complex and time consuming to increase those skills.
