Not really sure if it's because the game wasn't so good, but I stumbled upon this game in my internet adventurers by accident, seems quite interesting being "the old RPG set in WWII", and also the claim to be like Baldur's Gate and Fallout. Apparently it has a sequel too set in the desert of North Africa

Hey GOG staff, you should maybe check this out, you know considering you guys are Polish, and so is the company who made this game.

It's quite obscure considering that there are no second hand copies on sale on ebay, and even finding information on it through google is hard.
Horrible, horrible game.

Not worthy being on GOG.
I think this is either a hoax or a very early preview.
There´s no way to zoom in the screenshots, no information on availability, no price, no online store.
2002... was it ever actually put up for sale?
That game is legit, I've got it at home.

A really, really bad game that was one of those "Baldurs Gate" clones. Awful German voice overs, horrible gameplay, shitty story and bad, bad writing make it an altogether forgettable game.

I think it was only released in Europe, I bought it for 5€ and that still was to much.
Oh... right

I'll just shuffle along then...
Its quite spooky you should post this , I picked it up in a second hand store just a couple of days ago for just 1 Uk Pound , it has 4 CD's in the box ! :o

Think I might put it on my ebay store :-)

Ah yes. I have this game. If you thought this game was rare, the Mac port of this game is even rarer.

And yeah - the only way I can describe it is that there are some games out there that became rare and obscure, not because the market wasn't ready for them, or because the developer/publisher didn't promote them enough...but simply because they simply weren't all that good.

Another War had all of the elements of what was supposed to be a good game: a sarcastic and funny tone, gameplay modelled on two of the greatest RPGs ever made, Fallout 2 and Baldur's Gate II, and a Fallout-style recasting of a traditional fantasy RPG into WW2. The problem was that it executed on all of those elements horribly. The humor was lame and uninteresting, the gameplay turned combat into a tedious chore, and the characters were flat and unengaging.

But the main problem with the game was that it was broken and horribly balanced. Even on the easiest settings my party died right out of the gate from getting shot up by German guards with MP44s, while they just either flailed about with simple melee weapons or ineffectually took potshots at them with Lugers. And on top of that was the UI buginess, making something even as simple as picking up objects a nearly impossible task.

That game really disappointed me and even left me feeling a little bitter, - the aesthetic and graphics were very beautiful to look at, and the idea was a perfect way to deliver something new and unique in RPGs...just that practically everything else was so horribly, utterly, irredeemably broken.

There's a copy of this sitting in a shop just down the road from my office.

Unless, of course, summitus has been to Feltham and bought the very copy I'm thinking of.
