Heard back from Amazon today. They decided to offer a £2 refund per damaged item (specifically, £2 per torn paper cover). Considering that I replaced the broken jewel cases for less than that, I find that rather acceptable.

Now if they listen to my request to pack international orders in studier packaging, I'll be very happy =) Just hoping my copy of House season 8 will arrive without too much damage as that's bound to just be a cardboard packaging with flimsy thin DVD casings if previous season's packaging is to go by.

hucklebarry: Interesting. Thanks. It didn't take this long in the past. The reason I ask is because its been so consistently slow recently. Feels like a policy change to me (or something similar).

SimonG: I think they are moving away from DHL. I don't know if they also use that in the UK, but in Germany they have switched to a cheaper service. You still get the occasional DHL delivery, but more and more are done by another carrier. While it didn't necessarily involve longer times, the other carrier is crap.
DHL effectively no longer exists in the US. They only do international shipping in and out of the US now. That's been that way for a few years. Basically they screwed up their entry. And for the most part DHL was never even an option that most websites offered in the US. It was pretty much always USPS, UPS and Fed EX.

And I can't recall DHL ever being the cheapest option.
