If The Witcher 2 promo is not enough, we also have our usual weekend promo for you as well!

This weekend you get a chance to collect all games from Rebellion for half the price! There are some real gems in the catalogue, especially if you're a fan of strategy games. Become the evil ruler of the evil empire in Evil Genius, recreate the greatest battles in human history in three parts of Empire Earth or prove yourself take the English throne in the medieval times in Lords of the Realm. And if you're looking for more action oriented games you should try Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death or the Pinball Gold Pack. Check [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/rebellion_games_2]the promo page to see the full offer and choose something that suits you!
I kinda feel bad for Rebellion. After last weekends promo, I can't help but imagine that they're not getting nearly the business that they might have following any other sale, not to mention that they are also following a free game giveaway from mid week.

Personally, thanks to the recent sales and giveaway, I'm probably not going to be buying for a while. Under normal circumstances, I would've at least gotten Evil Genius. Oh well, back to Planescape: Torment.

I'll have to ask again, is it worth getting Empire Earth or is it too dated now?

What are its pros and cons compared with EE2 for example?
I got Lords of the Realms Royally Awesome Edition to play Lords of the Rings 2. Seems like a great turn-based strategy game so far and thanks to GOG for going back to the flat rate in sales so I didn't have to buy more than one title to get a proper discount (didn't buy anything last weekend due to this).

Personally, I prefer EE2 because there are way more things to tweak before starting a skirmish game, and generally, there's much more to do (such as the completely new research system or presence of great people, to cite two examples), giving the game more strategic-tactical depth.
That said, EE isn't dated, it is just more simplistic, so if you prefer/don't mind a more straightforward approach to RTS games, you might like it. Also, EE's civilization builder is different from EE2's in that you don't decide which research projects you start a new era with but what permanent boni your people have. (What I *do* think is better in the first game is the lack of regions, meaning you're not racing against the enemy to settle them.)
I would have expected more raving for EE 1 & 2. Easily worth these sale prices, very deep and challenging RTS games. GET THEM. I already bought them twice (on disc and here).

I have been debating this all weekend as well! should I get one or both? Difficult.

EE2 is...well it's just not as fun as EE, that's not to say it isn't fun, it's just the 'Emperor Strikes Back' of the series (EE3 is 'Attack of the Clones' but since you didn't mention it I'll assume you know that already).

EE is far from obsolete and there is a ton of fun to be had, you just have to be able to overlook the graphics and the AI. EE2 is improved in those two areas but lacking in originality and depth. I think I will get them both and I would advise the same, its only $5.98, the normal price of one game.
Totally picked up all 3 of the Lords of the Realms games and am quite satisfied. I'm absolutely LOVING Lords of the Realm 2...it blows my mind that games this old are just as deep(if not much more so) than any modern game I can think of.

And on a sidenote, Lords of the Realm 3 is just fine if you look at it from an RTS standpoint...I'm having a lot of fun with it too. I feel like Lords of the Realm 3 is what Diet Coke is to regular coke. An ok substitute, but lacking all the calories.

Anyways...I just wanted to say thanks Gog....you guys continue to take money out of my wallet and time away from my studies :-)

Have played EE2 before (quite liked it) so didn't bother with that. Folded in the end and got EE1 though. Will see if I like it or the graphics, GUI and AI is too much of a downside. Not having regions is a big upside, as the run for regions was a big nag in EE2. Like to build up my bases slower, and actually often preferred to let the enemy come to me first instead of rushing over and speed-killing them and grab regions.

If the AI gets tedious there is always multi-player, it's loads fun and after 10 years there is still a strong player base, probably more so this week as everyone who bought it over the weekend will be playing. The campaign is also quite fun, especially the futuristic scenarios. Either way have at it and enjoy.
I read that you should actually update your Lords of Magic with an unofficial patch called GS5. It should balance out those different elements and make tons of fixes for the game.

Here's the link official site for the fix

Developer is still working on it so remember to check back if he's pushed out something more too ^^
