I asked nicely to change my email address but the dev responded for me to provide :

a) last 4 digits of a credit card that you used for a purchase on GOG.com, or
b) PayPal Transaction ID of one of your GOG.com purchases

But I haven't made a purchase. I mean I will in the long run but at this point I would hope to just be able to simply change my email address :(

So hope for someone to provide an answer to this conundrum :(

I wrote to them again explaining this but nil response :(

You registered on June 2013 and haven't made a purchase yet? I guess you don't have any games in your Library (maybe only freebies), in that case, create a new account with the new e-mail.
I want to obviously keep the games I have & change my email address it shouldn't be so difficult :(
Tough one there...

I mean, just put on your paranoid hat: someone tries to change the e-mailaddress of an account. So, you try to get some proof that the person is the owner of the account, the easy way is getting some payment details for a purchase. If you are the legitimate owner of the account, one reason you would want to change the address is because the other account doesn't exist anymore/lost password to that account/account was compromised, so you cannot send an e-mail to that address to verify...

Did you have some (non-free) games in your account? Maybe if you provide the devs with the list of games you own (ideally you got a gift code somewhere that you used), they will accept that as proof of your identity.

Maybe, in the future this will be solved with some form of 2-factor authentication...

The point is, if you haven't made a purchase, what games do you have? You can get the free games in the new account too...

The reason of asking for the last 4-digits of your card or the PayPal Transaction ID of your last purchase, is to confirm that the real owner of the account wants to change the e-mail. If you haven't made a purchase, then there's nothing else Support can do to help you. GOG.com takes security very seriously.

If you really want to keep that account, then I would suggest that in the future when you're ready to buy, buy any game on sale, and with that PayPal receipt or last 4-digits in your card, ask for a change to change your e-mail (and maybe also your name, the ".<number>" was a glitch when they were preparing the site for the update and can be removed from your name if you ask.

If they aren't answering you right now is not because they don't want to answer you, but because they're busy fixing many problems with the current site and Support takes more time to answer, currently like 4 to 5 days.

kk cool hope someone there can show some understanding and thanks for your help :-)
Ah, but it was a mistake, a wrong set of questions.
Since we are asked to change countless e-mail addresses and usernames daily, we do it very fast, and sometimes mistakes like that are inevitable - usually the user in question writes back and explains our mistake, I see that you did it, too.
Please take into consideration that we are from Poland, in central Europe, and we usually do not work at four in the morning, when you responded to us - that is, usually, unless someone from our team has insomnia ;)
I see both your tickets, I will respond to them shortly and solve your problem the best I can.

Maybe I'm mistaken (I can't remember), but wasn't before an easier way to change the e-mail? I remember that at some point I had to change my e-mail for all my main accounts, including for GOG.com, but I remember that I did it from my Account Settings instead... but then again, I can't remember how I did it here exactly... (:P)

Yeah, an automated (for GOG) way to change the e-mail address would drastically cut down on the number of support tickets, I think. Probably (hopefully) something that was put on the to-do list for development.

Seems like you didn't read the recent feedback thread: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/we_are_listening_to_your_feedback :)
In short: our webdevs had to turn off the possibility to change your e-mail address and password through the account. It is caused by various problems that I won't go into details about, and it is only temporary. So, right now, you can only request such change through support.

I almost sure that before the option to change the e-mail was in the settings, but it was locked to avoid accidental changes and you had to unlock that by clicking on that option to enable the change of your e-mail, and confirming by using your password... but again, I can't remember if that was here or not. But if not, it is a good idea to implement... (:P)

Oops, no, I didn't read that part. I see it now ^_^
