Yesterday East Bulgaria was hitted by the same floods as Serbia. Varna & Dobrich was hitted the most with 13 people dead and dozens missing.

BBC Coverage

If you want to help the people in the flooded areas

Bulgarian Red Cross
UniCredit Bulbank AD

(for the flood victims in the country).

I hope the victims of this R.I.P.
I am sorry to hear. I guess it might be a good idea to buy one game less in the sale and donate the money to the Bulgarian Red Cross.
The biggest problem is that it keeps raining. We never had this much rain ....
:'-(

Can't say anything.
How are things in Bulgaria? Is help forthcoming?

I just recieved my benefit for the handicapped and donated some of it to the Red Cross above.

The result of the floods - 12 dead and 800 families without a home. Volunteers try to help as much as they can,but the weather ain't helping too. Everyday it keeps raining...not that hard but still,it is a rain.

The SMS campaign around here managed to collect 500000 euro, but from rough estimates so far Varna,Dobrich and Veliko Turnovo lost something in the 500 milion euro range(homes,roads,cars...etc.).

So it will be one bad summer for the folks in those 3 cities sadly.

Thx to Macedonia

And honestly I hope the worst is after us in the whole region.

If only our governments invested some money they pocketed into dams and flood defenses, effects would be much, much less terrifying.
I hope it stops raining soon.

The problem is mainly from woodcutting and building houses on the wrong places. Sadly most of the goverments in the region care for their pockets only.

Fun fact:

By law in Bulgaria - everyone that lost his home/car...etc recieves 325 levs (163-164 euro) from the country,no matter how much u lost into this.

So yeah....we live in lovely countries :)
I hope that situation with people insuring their property is better than it is here then...

Doubt that. 90% of the property here is without an insurance.

Some very bad looking clouds from today

Very sorry to hear this. peace
Seeing we had a month of rain in two days here (and a tornado in Ardèche !?), I was wondering how were things going in the east (the sat footage of clouds progression got me worrying).
I really hope the best for you all.

The rain has lessened now. I'm pretty sure it's at least a bit better in the regions who got it the worst last month, but I can't say for sure since I live in the western part of the country and it wasn't so bad here. A few days ago we had a horrible hail, though. Ice balls the size of small eggs. I believe no one has experienced such extreme case in years, maybe even decades. Tons of property damage, mostly cards and broken windows, but still. I don't know what is happening with the weather lately...
