Husky is back!

Since not everyone uses barefoot_essentials (THEY SHOULD) to be able to read the text of my other avatar, I figured would be best to go with my husky,
GURKA and +1

I only played Soulbringer and not Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition, but I can tell you this about Soulbringer :

- It's a RPG with a gameplay more similar to Diablo than Baldur 's Gates, which means you have a unique hero with skills to improve.
- You have customizable fights (similar to combos) and a magic system (you have to find a spell book and a rune before to be able to use spells).
- You have a lot of fights and mini-quests given by NPC.
- The story is interesting, dark and violent like Diablo and you will spend a lot of time in the game if you want to explore everything.
- The design is in 3D (contrary to Heretic Kingdoms which seems to be less impressive) and quite good for a game released in 2000, but the outdoor is always dark because it happens during a blizzard night, which is quite depressing the firsts hours.

To conclude, Soulbringer is an underrated RPG, but really great if you give it a chance. GOG says there is multiple endings. I don't know because I just saw one but I will probably retry it one day to verify ;)

I played both of them (but haven't got very far in Soulbringer) and I would suggest Heretic Kingdoms. Let's go with it:
- The idea behind Heretic Kingdoms is pretty interesting: you play as an inquisitor who hunts down any signs of religious activity.
- Heretic Kingsoms has interesting material world \ dreamworld mechanics.
- Heretic Kingdoms has pretty fun progression mechanics where you learn new skills by using items.
- Heretic Kingdoms is addictive in hack'n'slashy way ('just one more level and I'm going to bed').
.
.
.
Meanwhile, Soulbringer doesn't have skybox :)
(EDIT. To be fair, I must give it another chance after reading all those good things about it... and somehow look past that 'early 3D')

FALUKORV and thank you for this generous giveaway!

EDIT: I can give you no advice as I haven't played either game. Yet Soulbringer looks somehow interesting to me.

Soulbringer
I did play Soulbringer some years ago, didn't like that interface/ menu/ camera, big empy areas to explore but it's not bad i didn't mind the graphics.
Dialogs, the story, quests i liked it :)
Some pretty hard battles if too many enemies so makes you think - to redraw to take advantage of terrain at least that was for my melee char...

Heretic Kingdoms
I did like the graphics - can't go wrong with isometric, details very well done, good music.
Interesting concept the dream world, you have more options or strategies in combat, attunements also. A different fresh approach from an European game producer.
Pretty easy to play, you can replay it's still fun, an ok ARPG, i did buy it on gog.
Dialogs not so interesting...

my advice:
get them BOTH on discount - if you are an RPG fan, if not... i would go with Heretic Kingdoms, you can replay this you don't get too bored, easier than Soulbringer

GURKA

Never really got into Souldbringer or Heretic Kingdoms, so I cannot really give you an advice rather than waiting for a discount on both...
...as you shouldn´t expect them to be very "love on first sight"-games.
Why don't you just buy and enjoy both games? Seems reasonable to me since you've enough coinage to host a giveaway! lol~ ^_~ If you like my answer, I say GURKA and spend the money on yourself instead of me! XD

That thought crossed my mind but since I was able to get a bunch of game thanks to another person being generous I wanted to make another person happy to. I like how you are thinking however and as others have pointed out I will probably buy the game I'm not choosing soon.

Btw, I am ending this giveaway in SIX hours from the point I'm posting this!
GURKA

Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition is a much newer game. So if you are into both play the older one first (so the newer graphics won't spoil the older ones), but if you like eye candy then get the latter.

If you like series or sequels, play Heretic Kingdoms The Inquisition because it has a sequel coming soon. If you prefer standalone games, go for Soulbringer.

If your tastes are typical, play Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition. It was well received, whereas Soulbringer sold poorly until it was bundled with Planescape.

Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition has a more traditional isometric style; Soulbringer is more of a hover-cam. So if you are conservative in your tastes, pick the former; if you want to try something more experimental, Soulbringer is your ticket.

Consider all of the above, assign weights and points, and calculate the winner! :-)
