Already have Arcanum and not overly interested in the other one. Good small promo for those that want both.

Gonadius: It's almost worth buying Arcanum just for the manual - a classic, great humour and very informative. Do I buy it though... I have it on disc, but... Hmmmm.

blsessex: The disc version has Securom!

I have it on CD and I just bought it anyway...for convenience :)
(disconnected my optical drive a few months ago and haven't used it since)
Right now, Arcanum and VTMR are -respectively- the first and second most bought games, according to the Top 10 List. This tells me two things: 1) This is a popular promo (like just about every other promo was, as promo games always crept up that list), and 2)More people bought Arcanum than Vampire. I wonder if it's because so many already owned the latter or because they are simply not interested in it.

Daedalus1138: Hmmm. What to do, what to do...
I need help. Here on GOG, the reviews all seem to say that Arcanum is a great game. On Gamespot it got a decent review, but it brought up several problems with the game, and called the combat "awful." I have also heard that it is similar to Fallout. That would not be much of a problem, but while Fallout was fairly fun, I wasn't particularly "wowed" by it.
So, any advice on whether or not I should get this game? The price isn't bad, but I don't know if I'll like the game. Is it cheap enough that even if I am not particularly satisfied with the game, I won't really regret buying it?

I will try to help in your choise. This game is very similar to Fallout, but from a technical point of view, I think, is inferior. In particular combat system is not the best, maybe because Troika tries to mix real time with turns. There are also some little bugs. But this is a real rpg, there are few like that. background is superb detailed and original, there are many good quests; the plot is fantastic. I dare to associate it with Planescape Torment.
Damn you GOG!! Couldn't resist. Just bought both games !!!!

Same here, even if I have Redemption CDs laying around... somewhere..
While I do think the promo is a bit small (only two games? please convince Activision to expand the GOG catalogue with more of their RPG's), I got VtM:R. I already bought Arcanum when it was released.

They throw in a 2-game promo from time to time, and last two times there were numerous games, so I guess they decided to cater to those who like small bundles that aren't that taxing to get at once.
I was more surprised to see it's 20/30% off, instead of the usual 30/50%. Not that I'm complaining, as GOGs are already "dirt cheap", and they're usually well worth their original price; only surprised.
VTMR is amazing. Some games just make you think wow and completley suck you in. This was one of the few that did that to me. The story/graphics and the way it draws the player in make this a classic. But then I love RPG's.
Now, they're two very different games, Redemption is an "old skool" rpg, you have a party, you can stop time and give orders and so on. the combat, at least for the first part of the game is mostly melee. It plays more like moderns RPGs like Neverwinter Nights or Dragon Age than Bloodlines.

Wait, so it's Vampire the Masquerade mixed in with Dragon Age?! I'm sold!
Also remember that the developer of Arcanum is the same developer that made Bloodlines!
