I suppose now is the opportunity to pick up that camp classic of my teen years Phantasmagoria 2 that I passed on over halloween. I'm expecting it to be even more kitschy, low-budget, counterintuitive, and underwritten than I remember. All part of that 90s FMV charm.
Speaking of which, GOG would be well-served to get "Tender Loving Care" on this site, one of the more cerebral and better-acted of these types of games from that bygone era. You could call it a voyeuristic psychiatric drama, hosted by veteran stage/film/tv actor John Hurt, which focuses more on questionnaires and psych-profiling than traditional puzzles. Aftermath Media, the production company, even still has their ancient website still up:

I don't know if they're still selling the game as the advertised rate through their "store" (or even if the company is still around aside from a letterhead), but digital distribution would suit their now-forgotten DVD interactive games.
I was looking at Caesar 3 and like ancient Roman history, but I sort of suck at city-management type games. I tried out "Stronghold" on this site and despite enjoying Castles/Castles 2 immensely as a young lad I sort of bombed getting a handle of the mechanics and economy in Stronghold (I didn't even bother with combat) and didn't find the tutorial helpful at all.
