Orryyrro: Not to mention that they probably aren't actually done making the other campaigns yet....
Actually I'm betting by now that they could have been. We wouldn't have gotten any of the additional units or maps that the expansions are bound to bring in, but I bet they could have finished the story and campaign missions by now.

But without new MP units how many people would actually pay for just a continuation of the story?

Sielle: I would have agreed with you if the Terran campaign had been even half as long as it was. As it is, I feel that I got a complete game, but not a complete story (pesky cliff hanger at the end). I don't think they split it into 3 parts, so much as they realized that it was 3x larger than the first game and actually could be logically split and still give gamers the full value of their purchase.

Someone posted some videos of the later campaigns' cinematics at Kotaku (loads of spoilers)... so at least plot wise, they are.

Yeah thats what I'm saying, starcraft 2 is all about the multiplayer. Even if its only priced as an expansion I doubt they would make nearly as many sales unless they add new units, and after two more games it might be kind of cramped and harder to balance.

I've read an interview a few days ago. In it, Frank said that adding new units is an option, but not a requirement. The main problem is balancing the game afterwards. As he said, "every time we add a unit, we take out a unit.".

So it is possible that there won't be any new multiplayer units introduced by the expansions.

Can't remember where I read it though, sorry. I think it was that VG247 or something site, although I'm not sure.

Thats what I was thinking, it would be difficult to add much more into it. I probably won't buy the other two unless I see them on sale. They aren't selling 1/3 of the game, just 1/3 of the campaign, which I don't think is worth the extra money.

Foxhack: And this is a dev that sold an incomplete game for $60 and split it up into three parts. :P

Bah.
Starcraft 2?

I found that game to be a staggering letdown for many reasons... that's just one of them.

Except, that 1/3 of a campaign is as long as the entire StarCraft campaign. Also, from shortly before they released the current StarCraft II site: http://us.starcraft2.com/faq.xml
How will the expansion sets impact multiplayer gameplay?
The expansion sets will add new content to each race for use in multiplayer matches. This could include additions such as new units, abilities, and structures, along with new maps and Battle.net updates.

Orryyrro:
They also said more recently that if they add a unit they take out another one, which still doesn't make it worth more money if I'm still getting the same amount. I guess they could add more maps too but thats still not worth it.
From what I understand, the other 2 releases are "Expansions" and are not planned to be released at $60. (Hey, I could be wrong on this point)

Also, every single Blizzard expansion has introduced new units/buildings/whatever I would be AMAZED if they didnt continue doing the same thing with the SC2 expansions. (In addition to the obvious campaign)

I dunno, I have never really been dissapointed with a Blizzard game, ever.
