And the fun part is... if pirates cannot progress forward in a game, they will switch to playing another one.

Great move, developers, you gained absolutely nothing. ;)

Really? I'm confused on the internet

There will be cases where it'll work and someone will buy a full game

They'll hack the "immortal" part and receive the coolest enemy in the game!

Great tactic! Brilliant indeed!

Highly doubtful. Most pirates would just delete the game, and go play another one.

Hopefully, they didn't spend a lot of time designing this, and was a trivial work. Otherwise, they'd have just been burning man-hours.
Good idea indeed. But that wouldn't surprise me if people massively torrent the game just to have fun with that scorpion.
I would like to play this game. My backlog prevents me more than lack of funds. I'll probably have some time to get it in a few months, though.
“Have you tried Serious Sam 3?”

“Yeah, that game totally sucks. You start out with nothing but a hammer and a pistol and then right in the first level there’s this giant scorpion that’s, like, impossible to kill. It’s not fun, it’s just frustrating.”

“I was gonna buy it, but it sounds terrible. Thanks for the heads up.”

I like this guy's take on the DRM.

Urthman said it in the article's comments if you want to look for it.
I'm sure pirates will find a way around this pink scorpion DRM so what the Serious Sam people did was basically just saying "f*ck you pirates, I hope a pink scorpion creature torments you for all eternity". And if they don't, it will be like kavazovangel said.

PS
The game looks amazing. Too bad, my computer sucks.

I would torrent it, too. This is too bloody brilliant.

First though, want to have a legit copy :)
