I guess I should help rectify that so thanks again Sachys and to the ever generous Sigil ofcourse, please count me in with a chance as well. It was really brave of all the folks sharing their intimates stories regarding life changing moments so I would like to thank them all for that as though some were heart breaking all were inspiring in one way or another.
As for me nothing so drastic has occurred that it would be considered life changing but what really made me grow as a person was when I went to Malaysia for my Masters four years ago. This was probably the first time I had gone to a foreign country alone after living a some what sheltered life, so fending for myself and everything else was new to me. I successfully finished my Masters after two years but then I decided to try and get a job there because I figured that if I am in another country then I should get some work experience which would be good for me later.
It turned out to be difficult process because of my status as a student there but after searching for six months I found a semi internship/low paying job there which certainly didn't require a person with my qualifications. But while there I was able to test my limits in a sense and see if I was capable of handling myself out there in the real world since I had to do some projects their alone by traveling to remote parts of Malaysia to setup and install computers for School, hospitals and other small businesses. In the end besides the language barrier which was a bit of a problem I was able to cope quite well and it made me realize that when push comes to shove I can certainly do what needs to be done. :)
I would also like to mention again that I hope everything well went for your friend's operation Sachys and its is really cool of you, being a great friend and helping out in this difficult situation.
