You know, I've been on these forums for about a day, but I already kinda feel like I've come home. See, for the last few years I've been a regular on Gametrailers' Omnigamers Faction. I know its founder fairly well, and was even lined up to help with the podcast. Thing is, on top of the absurd amount of trolling and flaming that GT ins infamous for, I never really fit in there. That's because while everyone else on the site was on the cutting edge of gaming, talking about the latest DLC for the latest games, and the hottest news items about blockbuster projects, I was spending my time playing all these outdated games from the 90s or earlier...spending time writing reviews of them, posting about their various strengths and weaknesses, etc... and nobody really gave a shit one way or the other. I kinda became infamous for being JEFEQUESO: THE MAN WHO NEVER PLAYS NEW GAMES.
Then I came here. And not only have I had a number of debates, not one of which was with someone who seemed to have a brain made of compost (which is the norm on GT), but I've found a huge community of people who, like me, WANT to talk about the classics of old. I've found threads where I can suggest games made before the turn of the century and not be fluffed off. I've found that I can post a "Quake vs Doom" thread and have great, intelligent discussion about the pros and cons of each game. And best of all, I've found that there are more people like me out there than I realized, who love exploring old games. I'm sure that like all forums this one has its share of issues and things I'll have to learn to deal with... but ultimately, it feels like I finally found a place where I kinda sorta fit in.

oh, and it helps that the site isn't more broken than a chain smoker's falsetto (which GT is) :3
So, here's appreciation for all of you who are helping to make GoG what it is, and hope that I can become a part of that community!
