Licurg: Grace Dent interviews G.R.R. Martin:

I wonder how long 'till they flag it.
It has b00bs and but0cks, omg!

Nice interview, although nothing actually interesting for GRRM fans.
But for fuck's sake if you know the story already, write the damn books, Martin! One book every 10 years is more like punishment for becoming a fan...

I didn't want to put this in the Game of Thrones spoiler thread despite the fact that there are no really big spoilers here, but just in case I didn't want to inadvertently spoil anything since I'd be bringing in something from the books.

As to your discussion in that other thread regarding Jon Snow's parentage, there is a person mentioned in the books but not introduced a character (yet). Howland Reed fought alongside Ned Stark throughout Robert's Rebellion and was the only other survivor (other than Ned) of the attempted rescue of Ned's sister Lyanna. It is speculated that he might know Jon's parentage be he Ned's son or Rhaegar and Lyanna's.

Was Jon's parentage not already settled in the 5th book? Didn't that minor lord have a discussion with Davos where he told him the name of Jon's mother(i forgot what that is...)?
Also keep in mind that the book states repeatedly that Jon looks more like Eddard than any of his legit children.

Not necessarily. There are a number of rumors going around the kingdom over who the mother of Jon Snow is (or was if she's not still alive). The lord was a repeating a rumor that he'd heard over who was the woman Ned Stark had fathered Jon on. He also looks more a like a Stark than any of Eddard's other children (except for Arya who looks like Lyanna), which could come from his mother, but most of the theories floated by characters in the book are that Ned Stark is the father and some woman is his mother, though who that woman actually is varies.

Here's a list of all the theories:

First off, +1 for netiquette.

It's been a while since I read the books (and I was so infatuated that I was reading a bit too fast), I didn't remember that Howland Reed was in the Tower of Joy as well. It's a good point and someone that could support the claim as legitimate.

Yeah I doubt Jon would want the Iron Throne, but he may be 1 of the 3 "dragons" (if he is indeed part Targaryen).
