So, I've been in the mood for a type of game lately, yet have no clue what ones there are as its more of a feature than a specific game type. Y'see, I was playing Giants: Citizen Kabuto lately and I really enjoyed the levels with the base building and it made me want to play more things similar to such. Not necessarily a TPS or the like, but just a game which has some sort of town/base building aspects without being a top down city/base/rts kind of game. Another example of the kinda thing I'm interested in would be the Suikoden series, where you'd build up your base as you recruited more and more people.

So, if anyone has suggestions...it'd be greatly appreciated!
Do you mean something like Mount and Blade? Because I would highly recommend Mount and Blade Warband if it's the type of game you want.
Mount and Blade is a game I have (All of them to be exact) and I suppose it fits under what I'm kinda looking for. I suppose the best way to explain it is...hrm...building up something over time, such as a town, base, or whatever to slowly become more and more powerful, and having something to show for it. I was just curious if there was anything else really like Giants or the like which would really have a sense of becoming bigger and better.
Maybe Fable?
Well, later on in the AC series you get a kind of "guild building" feature.

You should check out Spellforce 2, that's got a mix of RPG, RTS, and there's a nice side mission to build up your base. It's not quite to your criteria, but I think you'd like it.

There's a star wars game that kind of fits your bill, I forget its name, something like "Gallactic alliance". It's a mix of RTS and macro management.

Neverwinter nights 2 has a bit of a castle building element.

Magic Carpet? It's very old, and hasn't aged well...

If I think of others I'll update, but tbh, nothing is coming close to Mount and Blade right now.
Savage 1/2
Natural Selection
Nuclear Dawn

All of them are online only and action oriented.

There is Battlezone also, this one has singleplayer.
Yes, the Fable and Assassins Creed City/Guild building is exactly the kinda thing I was looking for. I've only played 2 (And my PS3 has broken since) but the whole buying shops, upgrading them, and buying more new things was what I was trying to get at.

But I'll see about those, though any more suggestions is always welcome~
About Spellforce 2, remember not to use too many resources when building your county on a per-mission basis, because whenever you get back to your county, your current resource number will reset to 0, yet the resources available on the map won't reset to their original numbers.

Yeah, but you've got tons of the stuff. You'd have to seriously over-egg the pudding to run out.

Depends on who's playing. I mined everything during the first mission (that was available for mining), and I got f-cked because of that in the later missions.

I'm much the same way. If I can overdo it...I usually will. I never really go out in small groups, nor do early game raiding, but build myself up as one hell of a turtle and come out as a swarm (With the "titan/super unit"...if possible. I'm looking at you mister takes 10 minutes to build titans!)
